I was almost sure that matt sings on one of the songs too. just
like he did on that song off the 'killer tomatoes' soundtrack :)

Matt didn't sing live with Hater when i saw them, although i heard he has at
past shows. Only Ben was singing. They're now down to 4 members.

the new version of the unofficial soundgarden web page should be done
and running by december 19. i urge all of you to check it out at that
time -- and i hope you'll enjoy it.

this mailing list will probably be moving to a listserv when i get
back. this means that you will be able to subscribe and unsubscribe
yourself, as well as choose your own format (individual messages,
digest). the listserv will automatically compile the digest. the
address (sadly) will not be somms@mit.edu. i will, however, still be
the listadmin. somebody needs to keep you people in line.

Well first off Caroline Therapy? are British,as they come from Belfast. They
released a few EP`s a few years ago which went largly unnoticed. But in 1993
they released an excellent albulm called "Troublegum" which was great and made
everyone take notice of them, this included "trigger inside" and "die
laughing".They are very popular in Britain and around Europe, and so I have
heard also in South America!

This year thay released their second albulm called "Internal Love" which also
is great(the love sign on the albulm consits of 2 ?? with the first turned
round the opposite way,and this funnily makes a love heart?).Presently they are
on their world tour,at this moment I think trying to crack America.

>Just to make you feel better-it`s sunny and warm in SUMMER!! down here in Australia.

Well Caroline I live in Scotland, where it`s freezing(literly) up in these fair
glens.I sit here typing with my gloves three jumpers and a kilt on,and my
trusty bottle of Bells Scottish Whisky my only comfort.Well at least it will be
a white christmas.(I expect alot of sympathy and sexual encouragements to warm
me up!)

Well i`m away for a jog up that mountain over there.

Yes!!!! That would rule! It would rule! (Chicka goes into Beavis like
convulsions) It would rule!!! Ben picks up a guitar and starts playing
Half. Since he sings on Half, Chris is free to playfully kick Matt off
the drumset. Afterwards, Matt picks up a guitar as well. While all this
is going on, Kim has already found a bass. And then they play. and as
usual they ROCK! I would love it!!!!! And then they do a couple more
songs in that line up! But then Chris has to come back because of course
we can't miss his voice for too much of a concert. But maybe he could

That's probably true. I'm sure with a band like Soundgarden, whoever
has the idea for the song lets the rest personalize it on their own
instrument. I know some bands write stuff and say, "This is how it's
going to be played, so play it EXACTLY!" I think this is what makes
Soundgarden (and some other bands) so great. They let the whole band
get involved. Rarely do you see a whole song credited to s drummer,
but Matt got plenty of credits on Superunknown. I'd like to hear Matt
on guitar, as well as Chris on drums. I wonder if Kim plays anything
else?
I just thought of something. The Fell on Black Days demo was performed
by Matt and Chris. The guitar sounds way low for a regular guitar. I
know he could've tuned down, but I've tried this and it doesn't work
too good that low. is Chris playing a bass? I don't think he is, but
I can'tthink of anything else. Maybe I'm just hearing things. Anyone
have tabs for this song?

Naw, Kim could sing on Exit Stonehenge (because I think he does
anyway). Or maybe they all could pick up guitars and jam on a kick ass
guitar break, or maybe Chris and Matt could have a duet on drums, while
Kim and Ben make various noises, or Kim could chug some beers while Ben
does backflips and Matt does a baton twirl show with drumsticks. Then
Chris can be free to jump up and down and scream at the top of his
monstorous lungs and piss on the stage. Or they could just play and
kick ass anyway.

Yes the Melvins are damn good. Very fat sound. Soundgarden and Nivana
both owe credit to the Melvins. If you like music with a lot of vocals
though, the Melvins are probably not for you.

Melvins trivia:
Dale Crover (drummer for the Melvins) played drums on three tracks on
Nirvana's Bleach album.
Curt Cobain appears on the Melvins "Hootch" album.
Shirley Temple's daughter (Lorax) played bass for the Melvins. She is
now in a band called Acid King.
King Buzzo spit on me while singing at a show earlier this year.

What does Green River sound like? I don't think I've heard it. I have

Subject: and a goodbye from me/TOTD/SG live

Hi all. I've decided to speak up now (even though I have not much to say)
because you'll not hear from me until the end of January.

1. TEMPLE OF THE DOG. I also think this is a great album. I bought the CD
about 3 months ago, after having heard it discussed a few times on the list.
I thought okay, if all these Soundgarden fans like it, I probably will too.
I listened to it once on the day I got it, decided it was okay, but nothing
to write home about, and so put it away for a while. I knew the background
to it (i.e. written as a tribute to Andy Wood), but still thought it would
be more "heavy". You know, for some reason I was expecting good strong
thrashy Rusty Cage type stuff. So I then left it for a month or so. BUT
after the Somms list again started discussions on TOTD, I decided to give it
another go. Just two listens through it and I was hooked. Yes, it IS a
remarkable piece of work. My favourite would have to be Hunger Strike - I
agree with all the people who posted to the list yesterday who love this
song for the great power and emotion of two fantastic singers, Chris &
Eddie. I love it!! So to any of you who don't have this album, and wonder
what all the fuss is about, I'll warn you - you might STILL wonder what all
the fuss is about if you don't give it much of a go. But hang in there -
all of a sudden it will reach out and grab you and you won't be able to let
it go. I promise you!!

2. LIVE SET LIST FOR SOUNDGARDEN. There is no way I could pick a proper
setlist - I'd want them to play nearly everything! This was discussed a
couple of months ago, but I didn't pipe up that time. I'd be happy with
whatever SG played (especially as I've never seen them live - when are they
going to come to Australia again??), but if they actually played Rusty Cage,
Drawing Flies, Spoonman, 4th of July, My Wave, Uncovered, Face Pollution,
BHS, Big Dumb Sex, Hunted Down, Fopp, Tears to Forget and Gun........then
I'd be one happy chick. [after saying I couldn't pick a proper setlist, I
guess I just proved myself wrong. 13 songs for the 13th of December].

3. HAPPY CHRISTMAS! To one and all - and I'll catch up with you next year
(I'll be writing to some of you before Christmas yet; this is not my final
goodbye).

Unless you are Billy Corgan.

Like Smashing Pumpkins. I don't mean to trash 'em. I like em. But
Billy Corgan is a tyrant when it comes to them writing songs and
recording. He even says so publically. He played most of the
instruments on Siamese Dream. But he does a pretty damn good job. Every
thing comes together emotionally...It's rare that a non TOTD band ever
does that.

Well, Chris played bass on circle of power. But i have my own opinion as
to what that is. I recently saw this band play and one guy was playing a
guitar, but it was way to low to be in standard tuning. And it was lower
that Dropped D. Me and my friends saw his effects pedals, and saw what
he had. First of all a bass is one octave lower than the guitar. There
is a guitar effect called a pitch shifter which will take the sound
produced by the guitar up or down a certain number of steps. My friends
and i saw that the guy was using this setting where the pitch was shifted
to halfway between the octaves of bass and guitar. It was actually a
pretty cool effect.

Maybe I'm just hearing things. Anyone

I think I mentioned this before, but it's relevant, so I'll mention it
again. When SG played here last summer, they played half, with no
vocals. At then end during that cool drum thing, Chris joined Matt and
they did an extended version of that cool drum thing. It was fantastic.
Chris CAN play the drums.

Here are Clowns Rants and Questions,
Why do people associate the whole temple of the dof project with Eddie
Vedder "Eddie and Chris together was just Awesome" When like Chris wrote
all the lyrics and all the Music except for 2 songs. Imho I think the
album was made by chris's singing anyway. I don't like Mike McCreedy's
style that much on guitar although his work on Mad Season was excellent. I
like Stone's Rythm guitar playing though. But back to my rant do some of
you guys play hunger strike on repeat? Eddie Vedder was a guest vocalist
his contribution stop there. Forgive this rant but one of my housemates is
a MTV POP 40 spawn that thinks that along the lines of Uhh... like pearl
jam is more popular than soundgarden so like Eddie Was the biggest
contributer. It's taken this kid a year to realize that Chris wrote most
of the songs. Anyway is Avatar still on the list? Did you get your email
handle from the song Ava Tar by eleven? Just Curious.

I've been trying to tell people around here that forever. But Chris
and Eddie did do a good job together, singing on Hunger Strike. i knew
eddie did nothing more, but I do like hjearing him and Chris singing
together. They are the two best vocalists around. I didn't even know
it was Eddie on Hunger Strike till a friend pointed out that he did
(and he thought Chris wasn't singing at all...that i knew). It also
credits Eddie to some vocals on Pushin'... and 4 Walled World (I think)
but I can't find them. They sound so much alike. But Chris has a much
better high range, and his low range rocks too.
I didn't think Mike McCready did too bad of a job on Temple of the Dog.
In fact, I really like some of his stuff on that album. But how can
you not like anything on that album. It's a matter of what you like
best (for me anyway).
I'm just glad I'm not the only one fighting this battle with TOTD and
Eddie doing squat. :) Chris should just take over PJ too. Then
they'd be MUCH better. I think he'd have to take Matt and Kim too
though. Three guitars...that would be the shiznit.

I remember him from the first time I was here.
Moon Druid, Moon Druid, where art thou Moon Druid?
Maybe he went to the moon...or maybe he's busy mooning.

Yeah, I heard that too. He said it in Rolling Stone after Siamese Deam

Maybe a tuba, but not a dulcimer...maybe glockinspeil (I didn't spell
that right, but who's going to complain?)

TO>Well, Chris played bass on circle of power. But i have my own opinion as

TO>guitar, but it was way to low to be in standard tuning. And it was lower

I don't know too much about those extra guitar things. All I have is a
guitar and a shitty amp. I don't even think it's big enough to call an
amp.

talking about Circle of Power, Hiro sang that. I was listening to
Tears to Forget, and it doesn't sound like Chris. I think it's Hiro,
so maybe Chris plays bass on this song too.

TO>Nope, but I'd love to see them to prove how wrong my theory is. -j

Tabs aren't always right. On Loud Love, the music says to use an E bow
at the beginning, and Kim said he doesn't even know what an E bow is.
He just used feedback.

Go out and buy yourself an octave effect pedal that isn't cheap. You
can get the thing to go lower then. Trust me. I know more than burgers.
