How about....do hampsters live during the whole fall off of a five

anyone know if this is true? i had heard that he even decorated his

when he goes through so many sticks in a set? does anyone really know if
this happened? that would really be kind of cool looking, especially if
the lights like did cool things to the beat of the music. while we're on
the subject of lights, i'm just curious if anyone else around the world
has a person or an organization who puts up a huge light show. tom
monaghan, the guy that runs dominoe's pizza puts up a monster light
display every year at dominoes farms, the world headquarters, and i'm just
curious if this is a quirk to that particular nut, or if there are other
nuts out there who are putting up these traffic hazards? the thing really
draws your attention as you drive by at 80 on icy roads. pretty cool.

i think chris should grow his hair back out, then we'll spike it way up
and put christmas lights in it. kind of a chili peppers thing, except
anthony kiedis won't be there, and they won't be these huge, stupid

I have a friend who sets up her house as a gigantic christmas tree. They
hang this green stuff down the TV antenna (which is about 2.5 meters
high) and they hang sets of lights all over the house. It looks

So the FCC says it's going to "destroy" my hard drive. What does this
mean? Is it going to format it? Is it going to smash that platters and
heads together? Also, it's going to place my processor into an "nth-
complexity binary loop - which can severely damage the CPU". Hey, the
CPU doesn't care what instructions it executes, or how "infinite" or
"complex" a loop is. If the stream of 1's and 0's being fed to the CPU
looks like an instruction or data (for most CPUs, this means every stream
of 1's or 0's) the CPU will execute it, no problem.

By the way, notice that this virus doesn't affect any specific platform.
Do you really think the FCC would overlook whether it hits PCs, Macs, or
some UNIX platforms. I don't know of any piece of machine code that
executes the same across platforms.

> There is one sure means of detecting what is now known as the "Good

Yeah right, just like every e-mail message I send has the subject, "Hi,
my name is Greg!" If I were attempting to do damage via an e-mail, I
think the first thing I'd do would be to change the message header so
that it isn't so obvious. It's not very difficult.

Hey, if it ends up on your mail server, the mail server has already read
it. If you can still check your e-mail, your mail server hasn't crashed.
Gee, the old "Good Times" virus missed, huh?

Oh yeah, and we're putting a binary file (those are the only executables)
into the e-mail server's ASCII buffer. Your telling me that my e-mail
server has seperate ASCII and binary (and maybe even EBCDIC) buffers?
Why does my e-mail server care? Data is data. My mail reader can take
care of displaying text and "attaching" binaries. And why would my e-mail
server put this binary in the ASCII buffer and get all of the other
binaries right (assuming of course, it had seperate ASCII and binary
buffers)?

> The bottom line here is - if you receive a file with the subject line "Good

Actually, whoever's name is on the "From:" line is pulling your leg...

O.K., so I'm not in the greatest of moods today. Maybe it has something
to do with the fact that my finals started last night. Anyway, I hope
this actually did set someone's mind at ease. There ain't no "Good Times"
virus. At least not like what you've read here.

Another couple of Therapy? songs would make good band names...

Is anyone else getting all of this bounced message crap, or am I the
only one??

Oh yeah and here's a lil story since I don't want this message to be
totally annoying: I saw nin in Poughkeepsie last year and I was standing
there, just watching them play (nin pits are mean, I'm not going in
there) and I look to my right and there is this guy standing right next
to me. I stared and stared and I almost shit my pants. This guy was the
spitting fuckin image of Matt Cameron. I noticed that he wasn't
incredibly tall, like I imagined he'd be, and I wanted to ask him if he
WAS Matt Cameron, I mean, I was convinced, but the music was way too
loud and then he disappeared into the crowd never to be seen again.
I was wearing my Soundgarden shirt that night come to think of it. I
know, it wasn't him, but it looked SO MUCH like him...! Then I went home
and looked at Soundgarden's tour schedule and they'd just played in
North Carolina a few days ago and they were supposed to play in Canada
in a few days. Maybe they could have been passing through, and.. eheh...
well I know it's impossible but it is a good story, or at least I
think.. All you people on the list who've met Soundgarden and like know
what kind of laundry Detergent Chris Cornell prefers probably think this
is small shit.... but it made a 15 year old kid's night.
hmmm..
oh yeah and last week I heard someone say that Matt's a shrimp, and
that's what made me remember this lil story... cuz the Matt-looking guy
I saw wasn't incredibly huge, either.. hmm

I also had little luck with chain cd stores. My local new/used shop,
though, has most of the new cd+ releases from different bands. (that's
where I got my _AITS_). So try one of those. If you can't find it at all,
usually store personell can order it for you. When I was looking for a
copy for a gift, the guy at Streetside decided to order one for himself
after I told him about it. Good Luck. Look hard, it's worth it! -

I reckon the riff in Offspring's Self Esteem is just like Teen Spirit, I also
think Sickman on AIC Dirt is very much like Jesus Christ Pose.

Another thread, I wonder what anyone thinks Chris's favourite OWN song is??
Probably something off Temple of the Dog, Say Hello To Heaven or something, i'd
love to really find out.

Did anyone hear back from mailing the MTV address if they would consider
approaching SG about an Unplugged, i'm just wondering as I saw the Kiss one last

Nirvana then it should be ok for SG!!

Yes - a scan of various things I have read on here:

1) I can't believe you guys are falling for things like this. The idea
of being gay is put on every band, every hero, very star that as ever
lived. And you have the gaul (?) to believe it. Eddie Vedder is meant
to be gay apparently, and he's happily married. That's the first of
hundreds I could probably think of. i'm sure you'd know if Chris was.
Meanwhile......

2) Jennifer - you're cool

3) Britpop, when compared to the Seattle scene, is a pile of cack.
Oasis are good, Blur WERE good, Pulp are excellent, but Britpop as a
whole is just a fad.
	Good job it's dead really.

4) I was three rows from the front at Reading and got totally smacked on
(with dire sunburn as well!!!) when Soundgarden were on. But i smacked
and shoved back! (P.S. i though Green Day stole the show though)

5) Band names, how about: Touch

If anyone has the cd maxi single for jeremy by PJ, the second song on
there sounds exactly like "Times of Trouble" by TOTD. I mean exactly

I'll just add that Jesus Christ Pose will probably remain my all-time

about those songs that sound like other songs: I know stone temple
pilots sound like something.. that one really overplayed song reminds me
of parts of even flow. I guess I could be more specific, huh?

New and interesting Soundgarden related things:

well this one's not new. A few years ago, I met this girl who told me
that Chris Cornell did an unannounced "gig" at the Phoenix Hill Tavern in
Louisville KY. That question has been eating at my brain for three years now
(not really, but I've always wondered if she was lying). Does anyone
know anything about this?

Since I am new to this I don't know if this has been said, but
did anybody see Soundgarden on "Bill Nye the Science Guy" about a year ago?
They were doing a show about sound and soundgarden was there in the
studio playing the vocal track to kickstand.

to	the band name guy: I'm sure you have gotten plenty of suggestions.
I think one word band names are cool (soundgarden,
	        swervedrive, hammerbox, Tiffany (kidding)
Try FREAKMAMA. It works every time. or how about
WESUCKSHIT? I swear I'm just kidding.

what kind of a band is it? Just curious.

I definitely think Jesus Christ Pose is ONE of the best songs ever (I
think someone wrote that), but my favorites are
Little Joe, Tears to Forget, Nothing to Say
	 Mailman
well I guess anything off screaming life or louder than love.
	 I'm so indecisive.

You know what I really like? Any song that begins with Chris singing
along or the same note as the guitar (Loud Love). He is incredible. Okay
Im done.

Not to prolong a non sg thread, but.....
If you did that, the toast would fall under the belly of the cat in
midfall and would therefore hit the ground approximately a millisecond
after the cat's claws. Then the cat would proceed to lick itself and
become so annoyed with it's new toast apparel that it would seek and
assasinate the ones who performed the tying of the toast and the
dropping. So, don't harm cat's. They're smart. -j

Sorry, I'm with Jennifer on this one, STP sucks. It's just an opinion.
I saw them open for Megadeth a few years ago, right before the release of
the single for plush, and they were kinda crappy. I mean they're OK, but
they're no SOUNDGARDEN or anything. Look at the 2 lyrics you quoted.
Which one makes sense? "Pick a song and sing a yellow nectarine" Now
that's deep. I mean, what the hell is that supposed to mean? The
SOUNDGARDEN quote "words you say never seem to live up to the ones in
your head", is obviously (to me) saying you don't say what you want to say.
Anyway, I don't want to start a STP vs SG thread, but does anyone have
any other interpretations of this (or these) quote(s)???

As far as Britpop music is concerned the worst band around that has
the label of Britpop are Oasis. Blur ARE good. You totally forgot to
mention Radiohead, Supergrass, Elastica, Lightening Seeds and the
Stone Roses who think they are Britpop. To name other so called
Britpop bands such as Black Grape would surely make you see that
Britpop is an attitude, not a style, and it is still just as good if
not better than Seattle. We have to balance the good Seattle bands
with those like Mudhoney who suck big time. Another thing, if Britpop
is dead can you explain the plethora (it's a big word but it means
abundance) of rather good Britpop songs and albumns that have been
released in the last six months. Apart from the last Soundgarden
albumn (which did not make it that big it Britain despite the fact
that it was brilliant) and a few singles, nothing has come out of
Seattle since last christmas. At the moment Britpop has :
	Oasis - Wonderwall
Pulp - Disco 2000 and "different Class" albumn
Blur - "ther Great Escape" album
	Supergrass and their cool album
	Black Grape - Kell's Heroes etc,etc
This shows that Britpop is not dead. Whilst it may, like all things,
be completely transient it still rules at the moment, and will until a
Seattle band has a number one that Knocks Robson and Jerome off the
no. 1 slot. Loadsa Luck Nik!
