Someone said the same thing to me, but a good band usually doesn't make
the same kind of music over and over again. Only bands like Green Day
can do that. They say, "But Green Day didn't sell out." And that's
because their new album sounds just like Dookie. I think Green day is
way too overrated. It's come to the point where my little cousin,
whose CD collection is made up of Boyz II Men, Toni Braxton, and Salt
N' Pepa, even has Dookie. She told me, "Green Day is cool." When I
asked why, she just said, "Because....they are." Soundgarden is just
freakin' awesome, and Chris Cornell writes the best lyrics I've ever
heard. And Chris sings...none of this fake accent, or devil soundin'
shit. Just pure, kick ass vocals.

Well, I'm waiting around in old Oxford, OH to raise enough extra cash
for the new CD+ and I've begun a fundraising campaign: Superunknown Int'l.
Its purpose is to raise enough $ from those people who have $ to purchase
expensive experimental projects for the SG needy. Also, a yard sale is in the
making. Some things for sale (all proceeds benefitting SI, a non-profit
organization):

     -- Twisted forks: $5
-- BMF Chris Cornell wigs: $25
     -- Pieces of Jason Everman's bass: $1.99/oz
-- Fortune cookies containing song quotes from the band: $5/bag
(of course, we all know that most of us got our quotes after hours
of thinking about what lyric would best fit the end of our messages
and tedious searching of videos, interviews and the like.)
-- Copies of the new CD+ ($17) and EP ($6) that has, in place of the
infamous www.rocktropolis.com/soundgarden, corrected that typo. It
        now reads www.sgi.net/soundgarden.

Anybody else have any nifty imaginary items to help raise some $ for
those SG fans less fortunate than others. What a band can do to a wallet...

the power and emotion wouldn't really matter as long as you have all
those great people writing stuff together. I mean, it probably
wouldn't be as good as the first one, but it would still kick most
other bands' asses. With talent like that (even just Chris and Eddie,
although Eddie didn't do squat on the album, except sing here and

I consider myself a pretty good Soundgarden fan, and I must
say that the only time I saw them live I was disappointed. I saw them
at Jones' Beach with Neil Young/Blind Melon, and of the three, Mr.
Young impressed me the most. SG's sound was all messed up, and Chris'
voice was not nearly as tremendous as he has shown on their albums.
It was raining that night, and it was at the tail end of the tour, so
maybe it was just a bad performance. I hope that when I see them live
again they will impress. Any other impressive or unimpressive
showings by SG in the recent past?? I'd like to know.

Subject: SG live in concert

I also saw SG in Toronto a few years ago. I went to the concert to see SG,
but found that I had a new fave band in PJ...and that old dude Neil Young
can kick some ass! That was the most amazing concert i've ever been to,
and probably that i will ever attend. What totally kicked was when
everyone rushed the fences and got into the gen. admission after that one
daring guy got away with it. It was wicked. If i remember correctly,
Chris started to play Jesus Christ Pose i think and he had a guitar that
was tuned for a different song...that was trippy. I also saw them at
Barrie with NIN, but wasn't very satisfied with their performance. Of
course i was totally shagged out after a long day in the sun and a great
show by NIN.

I would also like to mention briefly in retrospect that i was a little
dissappointed in the past SG vs PJ debate. I am a loyal fan to both bands
and hate to hear PJ slagged just because this is a SG list. I am new and
the first digest I got was full of that "PJ sucks cock" bullshit. I just
about unsubscribed after the first digest!

Subject: list business
From: seth <saperl@MIT.EDU>

TOPICS: (1) unsubscribing, (2) the list and the holidays

- ---

First, let's talk about the correct way to unsubscribe from this list
and what to do when someone doesn't follow these instructions. If you
wish to be removed from the list, send email to SAPERL@MIT.EDU --
sending mail to the list will get you nowhere, since I am the only
person out of the 450 subscribers that can actually help you out.

If you make a mistake and send your unsubscribe request to the list,
not only is it going to take longer for your wish to be granted, but
you will have wasted the time of 450 other people. They have every
right to flame you.

However, if you wish to flame someone for sending an unsubscribe
message to the list, DO IT PRIVATELY. As much as the rest of the list
didn't want to hear the original request, I would be willing to bet
that they don't want to hear subsequent "you asshole!" posts --
someone pointed out, I'm aware that many of you pay per message
received, and I'd like to keep the trash to a minimum. Thank you.

- ---

Next, and this is very important, let's talk about what's going to
happen when I go on two weeks' vacation starting in mid-December. The
truth is that I don't want to have to log in every day of my vacation
to deal with subscribe/unsubscribe requests, nor do I wish to compile
the digest. Someone graciously offered to take over the list in my
absence, but I think I'm just going to shut it down altogether.

What this means to you: if you will not be around during the first
week in January, you need to unsubscribe BEFORE December 15. The
reason for this -- I'm leaving around December 15, but I might be back
very early in January -- the list will reopen upon my return, with the
same subscribers as it had when I left. Therefore, you might be
getting messages from January 2 (?) until whenever you get back to
your email account, if you don't unsubscribe before December 15. Do
not worry about the period between Dec 15 and whenever I get back --
nobody will be receiving messages during that time.

I don't know if any of this makes any sense; I tend to get too wordy
when I'm explaining stuff.

A friend of mine has Windows 95 and was looking for the SG video, but he
couldn't find it either. We saw Alice in Chains, but the SG one was
nowhere to be found.

Ok, so I'm 21, so I'm not the youngest and I doubt I'm the oldest...who
IS the oldest?

Well, I am twenty-one, but my mentality is definitely pre-pubescent.
Does that count?

They started with Gun!? You lucky bastard. I was so pissed off after
the show 'cause they didn't play it in Calgary, they started with Jesus
Christ Pose here, they ended with Hands All Over, that's all I remember
about song order. They did play a new one which I have yet to hear (this
was August 1994)

Educate yourself before making a claim. 20 bucks, 4 songs and a CD Rom
disc to use on appropriate computers. I bought the CD only version for
4.95. ENOUGH SAID.
