I have a copy of the Smells Like Teen Spirit dance version by Abigail and
it is so funny. Whilst not being quite as good as the Wierd Al piss take
it still ranks up there in the top ten worst covers of all time right
alongside Ace of Bass and their rather shite copy of Don't Turn Around.

The Zombie dance version is actually quite good. It just appears to be a
speeded up version of the original, and it is totally excellent to dance
to.

In a way the Teen Spirit re-mix was just a way to capitalise in the Teeny
Bop market (if an unsuccesful attempt). That however does not stop it
from being funny.

At least you can still mosh to the Wierd Al version... I nearly puked when
I heard and saw the clip for the dance version. It was fucking blasphemous,
'cause I heard it a few weeks (months?) after Kurt's death.

The film clip is fucked though. Did you see the original clip? It
actually had something to do with the song, but singing Zombie in a
carwash (in the dance clip...) is just fucking pathetic...

I think the bitch that did it should have 2 shotgun shells pumped into her
skull by Curt's animated corpse.

This is nothing personal against your opinion of the clip, I'm just stating
another popular viewpoint...

>PLEASE, TEENY-BOPPERS STICK TO THE PEARL JAM PAGE

If you had half a fucking mind you might realize that the members of
Soundgarden and the members of Pearl Jam are very good friends. Besides,
What the fuck is wrong with Pearl Jam? And who the hell are you to
criticize them or their fans?! Get some class and give some respect to
people have have the balls to speak their mind (ie. Mr. Vedder, Mr.
Cobain). Just because a band refuses to live in the limelight doesn't
mean that they're not a good band. Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana
(when they were still around) don't exactly live in the media spectrum,
but still continued to make the music that's going to stand as a
representation for our generation.

I just got the re-issue of the sub pop 200 cd and I was wondering if anyone
had one of the original ones and knows the difference between the new one and
the old one. Oh and someone a while ago said that the screaming life book was
good. Whoever that was is very right. It's a great book. It has some great
photos of soundgarden.

Subject: Music Anthology and Questions

If you don't give a stuff about guitar tab, skip to the questions below
(please?) :> ...

Well, I just picked up two books of guitar tablature yesterday (I've got a
real impressive range for someone who doesn't yet own a guitar!), for
Superunknown and Badmotorfinger. And, yes, I already knew that Kim Thayil
and Chris Cornell are wizards on guitars and the whole band has an
incredible sense of rhythm... but looking through the tab just blew my mind...

Weirdest song I've found so far is Half (on Superunknown)...written by Ben
Shepard. Wow, we're talking about a song that uses some bars with the single
most weird time signature I have ever found, 11/16...now, I've played a
piece of Bach in 24/16, but 11/16 smashes any time signature I have ever seen!

The great thing about Half is that the remainder of the piece (except the
'outro') is in 5/8. Makes for a nice killing of any rhythmical symmetry
which so many bands get into...

Well, I'll be talking plenty more about the guitar tab for Soundgarden until
someone tells me to shutup...now all I have to do is wait for my guitar to
arrive! In case you're wondering (which you probably aren't), whilst I can't
(yet) play guitar too fluently, I can read guitar tab for playing keyboard
purposes, and I can play some basic guitar chords...

QUESTIONS

Now, the question for everyone is, is that Chris Cornell singing with some
very strange FX processor on top of his voice during Half?

Have Soundgarden ever played Half live? If so, how did it compare with the
album version?

Thanks, and as always, all opinions are welcome...

In response to your question about whether SG have played Half live, I
would have to say yes. They played it on the SuperUnknown tour here in
Winnipeg. There were no lyrics! But at the end there were a whole lot
more drums. I think Chris and some of the crew joined Matt for an
extended version of that drum part at the end. It was pretty cool.

That's incredible! Now, if only I could see them live....

It just struck me as one of those songs that would be difficult to pull of live!

Thanks for the info!

Also for the better part of a year they toured with Voivod and either Prong,
or FNM. Plus, they have played together a number of times before that.
Both bands are quite good friends with each other.

No. The best way of dealing with sad and demented creatures like this one
is to ignore them. They desperately need attention, so leaving them alone
with themselves is the greatest punishment by itself...

Well, you should try living in Croatia... The only notable bands to play
here were... Come to think of it... There were none notable bands that
played here... :-(

I was supposed to be studying earlier and I found an article in a Rolling
Stone magazine for a compilation disc. It was called HEMPILATION and it
had a song from Hater entitled "convicted". I've never heard anything by
hater and I am wondering if this is on their CD. Could someone please
give me some info on this? Thanks!

Seth,
I have a quick question. What do you mean when you ask for the
web page on the homepage information? I plan on sending a picture in but
I want to be sure about all of the information. When are the pages going
to be posted? I CAN'T WAIT!!! Thanks.
