Hey all,
I have just come up with the best opening act there can be to get
everyone ready for Soundgarden.

                                               SUGAR

If you haven't heard them then go out and get a tape now, I think you
will find Bob Moulds song writing talent second only to God Cornells and
the music is pretty hot aswell.
If you disagree then you are both tone deaf and stupid (don't mean it)

man, the idea of kim totin' a big ol' hollow-bodied acoustic just
makes me giggle...(how about the ramones opening for them?!?!
fugazi!?!? :) ) but it would definitely be cool if they would do it,
so here's what i would like to hear...

hands all over
fourth of july
show me
fresh tendrils
seasons
room a thousand years wide (oh yeeeeees.)
like suicide
wooden jesus
head down
mind riot
gun
fell on black days
times of trouble
searching with my good eye closed

COVERS AND OTHER STUFF:(strictly wishful thinking, here)

girl who lives on heaven hill - husker du (with bob mould...i think
chris could do a killer grant hart and
this would be the finest duet in the
     			        history of the world)
right turn - (with layne from aic and mark from mudhoney-this would be
     			damn near orgasmic)
immigrant song - ledzep (chris goes ballistic)

thank you...

thank you, dan. even though this was posted incorrectly, this idea
represents the finest concert bill ever assembled. the two greatest
bands in the business today...oh, that it could be.

since sugar is on the verge of breaking up, or at least not touring
for quite a while because of the bassist's family situation, i don't
think it would ever materialize.

Hey, I've just discovered something really cool.
You know the spoon solo in spoonman (of course)? Well I was just
listening to it while typing on this here computer at work, and I have
found out that you can play along with Otis's solo on the keyboard. This
may not interest you at all but, if you have a four track and the music to
spoonman you could do a really cool rendition on your computer.

Or you could just learn to play the spoons!

Yeah. And remember, Unplugged doesn't have to be mellow or sundued. Point

Subject: re:Sugar-opening act??

Hey All-
I'm going to have to agree with grote here, Sugar would
be the ideal opening act. Think about it, the only talented
singer/songwriter that can write lyrics as dark and introspective
as C. Cornell would have to be Bob Mould. Those who don't think
that Sugar can rock as hard as Soundgarden need only to listen
to Copper Blue, or better yet, pick up some of Bob Mould's
former work with Husker Du, one of the heaviest groups I have
ever had the experience of listening to. And with the possibility
of Bob Mould retiring or going into more acoustic work(his hearing
is failing, casuing some tone deafness to set in), I would really
like to see Sugar and Soundgarden pair up. How bout Red Rocks
Stadium in Denver CO. for a good opening date??

Peace

I think the list looks pretty good for SG to do on an Unplugged, but if I
had to pick one song it would definitely be "Seasons", and hopefully
"Incessant Mace" which may be kind of hard w/out that powerful bass but
would be cool nonetheless. If we really call ourselves SG fans, we

OK, y'all already know that I want SG to cover "American Woman", and that=
=20
they have covered a verse or so of it. So, as far as Faith-No-More songs=
=20
for em to do, how about the one off of Angel Dust, and I don't remember=20
the name, but it's the one about some loner guy who lives in a trailer=20
park somewhere and hates himself and ends with him telling his kids what=20
his daddy told him - "you ain't never gonna amount to nothin'". I think=20
it would make a good companion piece to "Mailman". It would need to=20
rearranged a little bit, though, but that's what makes for a good cover.

As for covers of SG songs, this isn't that much of a stretch, but maybe=20
AIC could do a cover of "Head Down". =20

And for something completely irreverent, and to remind everyone exactly=20
why you don't want SG to get _too_ popular, how about a Musack version of=
=20
"Superunkown" to listen to while you're eating at Denny's? You know it's=
=20
only a matter of time....

Normally, I would not respond to my own mail, but I have to correct an
error I made in quoting Tool (I guess no one else noticed). The
correction would entail replacing "fire hydrant" with "fire engine".
After making this error (so sue me) I began to ponder the whole idea of
hydrants and engines. Is it just me or are fire engines just a little
bit played out? I can't even begin to count how many times a day I deal
with fire engines. The hydrant on the other hand gets little
recognition. Don't you all thinks it's about time homage was payed to
the lowly fire hydrant. So stop whatever you are doing and give three
cheers for the fire hydrant, the key player in the continual fight
against that dastardly little manace known as fire. And the next time
you are walking down your street and you spot a fiesty little canine about
to sling his leg over a hydrant for little territorial marking/relief,
give it a little nudge and say: "Hey Rover, how about using a tree
today", you will be glad you did.

The question is, would Soundgarden do a crazy filmclip to go with their
song, and dress up like TS???? :-)

I think that if SG did every single Led Zepplin song it would be really
great. But since that list is way to long I think the following would be
amazing:
1) Immigrants' Song
2) Ramble On
3) Heartbreaker
4) Out On The Tiles
5) Rock and Roll
6) Good Times, Bad Times
7) Over the Hills and Far Away
8) Dazed and Confused
9) i'm gonna stop now because I really do want to name every song but
that would take way too long.

OK, ENOUGH.

DO NOT POST TO SOMMS-DIGEST. EVER.

JUST DON'T DO IT.

YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE LIST IMMEDIATELY IF YOU DO SO.

ALL POSTS ARE TO BE MADE TO SOMMS@MIT.EDU.

When you join the list, you get a message from me that starts:

Welcome to the Soundgarden Mailing List!
YOU SHOULD BEGIN RECEIVING MESSAGES WITHIN 24 HOURS.

To send email to the list, send it to SOMMS@MIT.EDU.

If you choose the digest version of the list, you get email that says:

	Some things you should know:

	1. To send email to the list, send it to somms@mit.edu.

Nowhere is there mention of 'somms-digest' in either introductory
message. When the digest gets mailed out, the header even says
"Reply-To: somms@mit.edu," just so people don't send email to the
wrong place.

I don't remember any of you being in charge of compiling the daily
digest and sending it out. That's ME. Therefore, I am the only one who
is allowed to send mail to somms-digest. The people on that list wish
to receive the digest form of the list because they only want one
message each day. When you send mail to somms-digest, you piss them
off. And you piss me off, because I sure as hell told you how to post
the correct way, and it's my job to keep the list members happy.

ALL POSTS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED TO SOMMS@MIT.EDU.

Okay if we are going to get strange:

Heard it through the grapevine - Marvin Gaye
Roll With It - Steve Winwood
No More Love - God Lives Underwater
Junior Citizen - Poster Children
Dirty Willy - Lords of Acid
I'm Just a Singer (in a rock n' roll band) - Moody Blues
Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues (again)

Now this last one - do you think our Mr. Cornell could handle something this
slow????

When I first read this message I was like, what the fuck? (Can we say
fuck on here?, does anybody care?) Then I also started thinking about it,
and how often I hear those damn fire engine sirens, and I'm thinking,
"I'm pretty sure theirs not that many fires around here", I mean, where
are they going? All dressed up in their fire gear, ridin' around town,
mr. big stuff. Yeah right. They're probably on their way to a parade.
I'm just gonna ask 'em next time where the hell they're going. I know
this hasn't anything to do w/ Soundgarden so, does anybody know (and I

Hi everyone!! :)
First of all: I heard that the new Superunknown CD ROM was released
yesterday. Does anyone have it yet? Details please?

Well....the only famous person (music wise) I have met was Michael Hutchence
of INXS. Remember INXS? Well, I've seen them live 9 times (STOP
LAUGHING!!!!). One time in particular, I got backstage by some amazing stroke
of good luck & bad security. I met Mike and he gave me a beer. I was in awe
because I was @ 14 or 15 at the time (looked much older though). That was
quite some time ago. I don't remember what we talked about, but I did keep
that cup for a few years. Anyhoo....

For the person wondering how to get backstage passes: GEEZE!!! Don't you
watch tv!?! Just grab a pack of Mentos, pop one in your mouth, put on a
bandanna, grab a piece of equipment, and the security guard will just let you
walk on by....'cause you're a FRESHMAKER!!!

The ULTIMATE SG Unplugged setlist:
"Rocky Mountain High" by John Denver
The "Conjunction Junction, What's your Function?" song
The theme to the "Mickey Mouse Club" (dedicated to your's truly)
"I Like Beer" by Hank Williams
Any White Zombie tune (I would REALLY like to see them accomplish THAT!!!)
any SG tunes of their choosing
Then, they could stop and Kim could do a reading from one of those
"Highlights" magazines. You know, those stories that are told in pictures
instead of words......I could never figure those stories out....

Ooooops...gotta go....my therapist is calling.....Mick

Hi again -
Oh geeze.......I forgot I met Pat Smear (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) this past
August!! I was with a couple of friends outside of the Avalon (the club they
were performing at), and he came right up and started talking to us. He was
so cool. He is difficult to describe.....he's just so...."Pat-ish"....that is
the only way I could describe him....he was very outgoing and super-friendly.
He asked us if we wanted to take his picture (I don't know.....maybe he felt
unloved that day or something), so we did. He stayed and gabbed with us for a
while and then went into soundcheck.
Gawd.....and to think.....I actually admitted to that INXS thing
earlier....ok....so....the 80's happened....it wasn't my fault.....

I was wondering when someone was going to suggest Zombie Eaters, w/ all

Actually, i do. This band called Kickball was plaing at a Cafe and i
had went to see them. They kicketh major ass. I had seen two of the
guys from the band do acoustic shows before hand and i thought both of
them were good. Considering he usually only plays acoustic guitar,
the guy that played bass was kicking major ass. But then again so was
the guitarist/vocalist. And after the show i was just standing around
loitering and John Gillespie, the vocalist/guitarist, just introduced

and that i wanted a tape. He said they're working on it. But
considering he teaches at a high school and the bass player is in
college, they don't have very much time. So if you ever hear of a
band called kickball, buy the record, or go see them, or whatever.
John was a really down to earth individual. They had more fun on
stage than half the bands i've seen put together, and that carries
through into their music. mind you, i don't hold them above sg, but i
do think they are damn good to be a band w/out a record deal. And
that was only the third time they had ever played together live.
Well, i think i have said enoguh about them now. They're playing

Yes, t'is a most enjoyable song. Two other favorites of mine on "King for a

It's 'RV", laddie. :) Although, in my opinion, it really doesn't
strike me as something Soundgarden would do. (It would be a good companion
to Mailman, that is true)...and gosh darn it, I just don't like the song
anyways. :)

Yet another two good suggestions. Zombie Eaters would be great,
too. Land of Sunshine, and...I could name almost every FNM song I know...

The songs I'd like to see in unplugged format would be:
( I won't make this very huge and repetitive.)

	1. Fell On Black Days
	2. Outshined (Imagine it slow and Jazz-Like)
	3. Like Suicide

mmmh... gota go.
