We've all pretty much stated our favorite Soundgarden songs by now. How
about a "twist" on this. Name you favorite "bootleg" or "non-original"
Soundgarden song. It can be off a bootleg, soundtrack or import CD.
Examples: Fell of Black Days Demo, Birth Ritual from Soundtrack, Like
Suicide Acoustic version or my personal favorite Searching with My Good Eye
Closed Live from the Diggin the Garden Bootleg. Hope to see lots of posts
on this.

Has anyone ever heard Chris Cornell's band before Soundgarden, Center for
Disease Control Boys? If so, is it good and where can I get it at? If you've
ever thought of checking out KIm Thayil's project band, Pigenhead, DON'T.
Without question the guitar part is good, but they use a shitty drum machine &
some fat guy wailing about not having a girlfriend or something. Maybe Kim
Thayil should come out with a solo intrumental album...I'd buy it.

from a Rolling Sone interview, December 29 -Jan12 1995

RS:Is the "Day I Tried To Live" on Superunknown a heroin song?
CHRIS CORNELL:" No, I don't have any heroin songs. Its about trying
to step out of being patterned and closed off and reclusive , which
I've always had a probelm with. Its about attempting to be normal and
go out and be around other people hang out . I have a tendency to
sometimes be pretty closed off and not see people for long periods of
time and not call anyone.
It's actually in a way a hopeful song . Especially the lines
"one more time around /might get it", which is basically saying "I
tried today to understand and belong and get along with other people,
and i failed, but I'll try again tommorow". Alot of people
misinterpreted that song as a suiside note song . Taking the LIVE too
literally"...........(too lazy for the rest)

words to live by in my warped opinion

Mine would have to be the acoustic version of Like Suicide. I actually
like that version better than the original, which is also awesome.

As for Center for Disease Control Boys, the chances of you finding
their release (and the existence of an actual release is only
conjecture) are about nil. The whole project was a joke; it was
supposedly a parody of some country/western bands, with Chris playing
snare drum standing up, wearing overalls and no shirt.

As for Pigeonhed, it stayed in my CD player for 2 weeks after I bought
it. I dug it out last night, in fact. It's a great disc. It's
definitely one of the stranger collection of songs I've heard. You
just have to understand that it's not Thayil's project. In fact, he's
not even a member of Pigeonhed (Shawn Smith and Steve Fisk); he's just
the guest guitarist, which is why you can't expect it to sound even
remotely like Soundgarden or any "rock" band.

My favorite non-original SG song is definitely:

		SHE LIKES SURPRISES

I do not have a record player so I couldn't get it from the Superunknown
LP, but I found it on a cd entitled FRESH DEADLY RARITIES. The album
kicks ass. It also has: Fresh Deadly Roses, Come Together, Heretic,
Like Suicide (acoustic version), and about 10 more B-sides!

Has anyone else even heard of this album? Let me know--Jenn

I hope not, I liked Jeff and Stones work in Mother Love Bone, and Temple
Of the Dog. I also like Jack's work in Eleven. It would be a shame the
seattle scene has had enough tragedy.

ex--the guitarist who can't afford sg on aol,
i couldn't afford aol either. i'd rather listen to paint dry than have
my ass turning to dust waiting for a page update. anyway,
i had at one point figured out the main theme to this song on an
acoustic. i wrote it down somewhere but.... i think i just dropped the e
to d and went from there. not that hard as far as i can remember, but
what does that mean, eh? my head appears to be firmly implanted in my ass
as of late...
aol is the online equivalent of constipation. gotta get yourself
something faster. who am i kidding? i'm sitting here using lynx. what a
joke!!
trying to figure this one out, but no available copy of the song makes
it difficult...
<<to all parties:>>
by the way, any ideas on 4th of july??? ley me know...
