For anyone not capable of reading mail that has nothing to do with
Soundgarden, then you know what to do.

Shannon Hoon? What can I say that hasn't already been said, I fucking
hate the guy. I couldn't actually care less that the guy's dead, I
mean, we all die in the end. It's just a shame when someone with that
kind of musical ability throws it away with such cheapness, may he rest
in peace, or burn in hell, it's all the same to me. And to anyone who
wants to die for him, go ahead, it's just as pathetic.

"Nirvana was crap" (EJ Fry), I've got nothing against self opinionated
people but to label a band "crap" shows how naive they really are. If
you don't like them, then I guess that's fair enough, but a comment
like that isn't justified. In my opinion, nothing is crap. I like, or
I dislike, and it doesn't mean a band is any better than another, or
as it was so blatently put, "crap".

Can anyone tell me the address to subscribe to a Nirvana Mailing list.
Not that this list isn't enough to satisfy my needs. I assume that there
is at least one, even though the band is no more. I'm still a Net
infant, and I haven't found a such a list in my explorations. Please
mail me personally (we don't want to clutter up the SOMMS list with

There's no way you can begin to list favorite Zeppelin tunes, there's too
many of them! After 10 years of churning out awesome song after awesome
song, picking a top three would not do them justice at all. Why are
pepole listing their favorite Nirvana songs? Nirvana was crap. Geez,
really? Uh-huh! Wha? Yup! That's right! They blew! Why don't we
list our 3 favorite Police songs or Pink Floyd or Primus or tool or Jimi

How could I pass this by? I answer most of these quizzes!

>So, if you had to choose your three favorite SG songs, at gunpoint,

1. Rusty Cage - rhythm that stuffs me up every time, personal meaning to the
lyrics...
2. Jesus Christ Pose - Matt's efforts on drums are great, good hard driving
song...
3. Black Hole Sun - people who have payed attention to any of my previous
posts would know that I'm still infatuated with this song - brilliant chord
progression...

>If you had to choose your three favorite AIC
>songs, at gunpoint, what would they be?

1. No Excuses - the first song that got me onto AIC, and still my favourite
song of theirs... very personal meaning for me and can be used very
effectively as a motivator...
2. Rooster - Sad song that gets me thinking every time
3. Them Bones - Sounds exactly like the level music to a level in DOOM II -
I think this is very deliberate from the music developers for DOOM!

Thanks to you if you read through that!

I'm too one of those Mind Riot-persons. When I started to listen to
Badmotorfinger I couldn't choose my favorite song, they where all
amazing. But the fist song I really loved was Jesus Christ Pose. But
when time went by Mind Riot took over. When your head aches, when
you're tired as hell and the only thing you want is to die; go home,
put on Mind Riot (loud as hell) and you'll see that the song really
washes away all the pain. Sad songs really makes me feel better, it
may sound veird, but they do. Mind Riot is a very good example of song
that makes me feel good. Together with Searching with my good eye
closed, Mind Riot is my favorite on Badmotorfinger.

Does anyone else feel that sad, dull and lonely songs make you feel better?

To say Nirvana was (sic) crap is like saying Reagan was a shrewd President or
that the world is going to go into mourning over the loss of Shannon Hoon.
I'm not even going to list all the (countless) reasons why Nirvana were
patently NOT crap, its just too obvious, i'm also sure all the other Nirvana
lovers on this list wholeheartedly agree too.

far from crap. Now i don't know. Depends on how close to sewer lines
are to Kurt's coffin. -j

p.s. The opening for hunted down sounds really melodius when played two
octaves higher. (Had to get a soundgarden reference.)

Since my heart is in almost the right spot today, I though I would give you a
bit of a hand here. First there are over 100 hits on the Web pages (searched
with just Nirvana - hate to think what would have come up with Kurt Cobain).
To - to - to many to go through. There is one page that links you to most of
the others, it may take a little work on your side. But if your really a fan
this will not stop you.

Try this address: http://seds.lpl.zrizona.edu/~smiley/nirvana/links.html

Sorry I couldn't be of more help....

Dull songs don't make me feel better, but otherwise yes. This may sound dumb
but back when I liked Poison (god help me for admitting it) I used to listen to
"Something to Believe In" over and over again. I think they make you feel
better because they let you get your emotions out in front of you, and also you
can see that other people go through the same things you do. It feels really
good when your down to go and do other things you like, like rocking out with
the band or hanging out with some other friends, anything to get your mind off
your problems. You start to realize that life isn't so bad after all and that
its really worth living (The Day I Tried to Live). Anyway, that's what I think.

It has been an interesting first day for me as part of the SG digest mailing
list!
My comments are:

Top 3 SG songs (god this is tough!)
1. Room a 1000 years wide
2. Rusty Cage
3. 4th of July
Also up high on the list - Jesus Christ Pose, Little Joe, Loud Love, My Good
Eye

Top 3 AIC songs (even tougher)
1. Down in a hole
2. Rain when I die
3. Godsmack
(wierd that they're all off the same album)
Can't wait to hear the new album!
I'm also a huge fan of the Mad Season album - top pick being Above - though
the whole album is great.

Top 3 LZ songs
1. Ten Years Gone
2. When the Levee Breaks
3. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
(that was almost impossible - I'll probably change my mind tomorrow)

As far as the whining high school girls go - (comment by Danielle, not
Daniel), they do sound really lame, especially because of the Kurt Cobain -
lipstick thing, but personally I really like Blindmelon so I'm not too happy
that Shannon is dead. I'm really into the Soup album right now, especially
the song "Toes Across the Floor". The weirdest thing is I just saw them in
concert two weeks before he died. It was a great show too - at a club
called LaLuna in Portland, OR. Very awesome place to see bands! But
definately a bummer to know I won't see them play again.

Guess that's it for now.

Well here are my top 3's for just about every band mentioned.

Soundgarden
1. Fell on Black Days
2. Outshined
3. Day I Tried to Live or Fourth of July

Led Zepplin
1. Immigrants' Song
2. Battle of Evermore
3. Good Times, Bad Times
4. Stairway (i know this is more than 3 but the lyrics for stairway are
one of my faves)

Jimi Hendrix
1. Manic Depression
2. Little Wing
3. Purple Haze

Pink Floyd
1. Money
2. Another Brick in the Wall Part 2
3. Comfortably Numb

Tool
1. Intolerance
2. Bottom
3. Sober

i could add Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Jethro Tull, and at least 20 other top
3's but i'm sure i've wasted enough time. Speaking of Zep however, has
anyone here seen Plant and Page in concert? I was supposed to go but my
friend sold his extra ticket about 20 mins before I found out that I had
40 bucks.

i can't figure out how those girls would be considered trendy. how
popular a band was blind melon in other areas? i didn't know anyone who
actually listened to them, and my roommate has over 300 cd's. not that i
disagree with your assessment of those girls. i shed a tear (well, not
really, but figuratively) for shannon's family and those who cared about
him, but for some fan who certainly hasn't ever met him, and who
obviously doesn't realize that blind melon was about as talented as
collective soul (the only reason blind melon existed is because axl and
shannon were friends) to be emotionally distraught over the loss of this
person is absurd. on the other hand, i think we all realize how emotional
teenage girls can get under certain circumstances, referring specifically
to hormones and life changes and all that, but they are stupid for
getting all in a hissy over this guy. while i feel sorry for his friends
and family, in my opinion, shannon hoon died because he was an addict,
and he has no one to blame but himself. and smack those girls for me.
