From: seth <saperl@MIT.EDU>

Sometime this week I forgot where my priorities should be and I
started doing schoolwork instead of working on the Web page. Well, now
that I've recovered consciousness, I've added the lyrics to "Flutter
Girl," "Nowhere But You," and "Black Cat" to the lyrics page (thanks
to Samson and Cruikshank). I've also added the lyrics to "Big Bottom,"
originally a Spinal Tap song (thanks to Chris).

I also revised the tabs for "Let Me Drown," "Mailman," and "Fell On
Black Days." They now come to you directly from the official Cherry
Lane books (thanks to Andrew).

As Sara mentioned, I will be putting the personal descriptions of any
list members that want to send them on the Member Directory page, in
an attempt to keep the conversation on the list Soundgarden-related
but still give everyone a chance to get to know each other. For this
purpose, I have whipped up a form for you guys to fill in and submit
to me. You can get to it from the Member Directory
(http://www.sgi.net/soundgarden/list). By the way, to those of you who
sent me pictures, I will hopefully have time next week to get them up
on the page. To those of you who have not yet sent me a picture of
yourself, get to it.

We've got it lucky in out computer lab - 4 Pentium 90s with CD-ROMs, so on
weekends, someone (like me) brings in heaps of CDs, a couple of speakers and
away we go!

The scary thing is that not many people around me know much of Soundgarden's
music, so it's up to me to rectify this situation until someone tells me to
"turn that infernal noise off!" However, as soon as I put some Pearl Jam on,
everyone goes crazy, telling me to turn it up!

Ah well, dems de breaks...

Somebody posted about Artis I went to a Soundgarden gig one week after
their album came out last year it was kind of a promotion to kick of
their tour anyway you had to win tickets to go and ring up a number the
day before to find out the venue. When we got there the support was Artis
who did a kind of intense spoon backed poetry thing, accidentally cut his
face with a spoon in the process and then joined Soundgarden for Spoonman.
One of their best performances helped by the fact it was free.Artis is
about late 30s I guess with a Mohican anbd seems quite cool.Any of you
who knock spoonman would probably admitted that it was great that night.

Okay, so the men in my office don't know anything - that's not unusual....
They pointed me down the wrong road... But, can anyone tell if the basketball
part of the statement was right - Lenny Chapel (Hall of Fame)??? The B-ball
addict here are getting hot under the old collar debating the issue.

BTW: Where in N.C. is Wake Forest - I may still be close enough to make the
trip. And no I don't need to get back stage - I just thought it would be nice
to meet and support a SG list member.

Well I certainly consider myself sane (except at about 1.30am on a Friday
night!), but i've never been over enamoured with BHS (seems weird using that
abbreviation as BHS in England is a department store!!). Sure it is a quality
song and better than most bands will write in their entire lifetime, but I don't
know if others on the list are like this but when i've been into a band that are
a bit way out i've never liked the more commercial songs they do. For instance
Metallica, used to idolise them almost as much as i do SG but when Enter Sandman
came out I was gutted, the Black album was another disappointment and thats why
I have'nt played a Metallica album in years. Now i'm not saying the same about
SG they are in a different ball-park, but BHS apart from the grunge-out at the
end just does'nt do it for me, give me Limo Wreck anyday!!

> 70's, were any of you into King Crimson?? I just got a KC album called
> "Red" and it is blowing me away.

Agreed, a friend of mine got this album a while ago and it is pretty cool, it is
sort of progressive 70's grunge with few vocals. Apparently Kurt Cobain was
also heavily into this album and some of it could be considered a little like
Nirvana in places. While we are on the subject of the big N, someone was going
on about Courtney, now I don't think she has anything to do with Nirvana except
she is the mother of Kurt's kid. I was on a Nirvana list till recently but it
degenerated when all people talked about was Courtney ( you think this list is
bad for talking about non-SG-related subjects!!). I happened to make the
analogy that Courtney is the 90's Yoko Ono and you should have seen the smarmy
know-all replies I got!! I will say though that I doubt entirely that Kurt was
murdered and Courtney had anything to do with it, I don't think she's that
clever, and that Tom Grant is just out to make a name and a quick buck (a male
Divine??) for himself.

Back to SG once more, Frizzle Fry again I agree with you how can anyone not like
Mind Riot????? It is quintessential Soundgarden, thats all there is to it.

I'm going home its been a looooonnnnggg day!!

This is one of my favorites. Seth, you know what to do.
     Enjoy, Vikki

     Stolen Prayer by Chris Cornell

     I walk the streets alone
     Shadows on my face
My sins are etched in stone
     Never to erase
     My fears unshakable
     If I could believe
I'd trade these wings of gold
     For what I really need

     I walk the fire alone
     Burnt into my soul
Scarred from the flames of home
My mask is made of stone
     I'm not invincible
But I want you to believe
     That your convincible
I pray that you will be

Take the word and pass it on
     I'm tired of preaching
Take the angel from the thorns
I'm tired of wings of gold
'Till I'm in the right of way
All my words are spoken in a stolen prayer

     I dream of different times
When I could find my way
     Through all the darkest nights
     That cloud my world today
     I'm not unbreakable
     Although I might pretend
     Its not unthinkable
     That I could feel again

Take the word and pass it on
     I'm tired of preaching
Take the angel from the thorns
     I'm tired of golden wings
'Till I'm in the right of way
All my words are spoken in a stolen prayer

I steal another minute from my life
I cut a little deeper with your knife
I steal another breath from the air

     In my stolen prayer
     In a stolen prayer

Somewhere, Jesus Christ Pose, and one other I can't remember aren't that bad,

fond of the rest. I think I'll look into Ultramega OK. I know, it doesn't

you don't like vintage Soundgarden. My belief is that badmotorfinger is
their core CD. This is Soundgarden. Superunknown just expands on this album.
