now that the list is up around three hundred members, I'm going
to re ask a question I posted about three and a half months ago.

has anyone else seen the two different versions of the outshined
video? I have both on tape, but I have never heard from anyone who has
seen them both. I read that there were two done, the major release one
and an even better version than that. can anyone confirm this?

Sorry to state the obvious, but...

If you're going to flame, keep it OFF the list. Better yet, keep it to
yourself. Personally, I'd rather read totally irrelevant posts than read
people's COMPLAINTS about them.

(Sorry I raised my voice.)

Oh dear! Jamie, sorry for appearing to trash Deep Purple out of turn, I love
most of the 70's bands, Zep, Sabbath, Floyd,Rush etc I could just never get into
DP. What I meant about Coverdale & Plant is that with all this comparing going
on, on the list to me the only singers that sound ANYTHING like CC are those
two.

I actually heard he'd joined the Navy. He left Mind Funk to join up, did anyone
see any pictures of him when he was in MF? He had the most ridiculous WWII
fighter pilot moustache, it was hilarious!! Mind Funk came out in 1990 and were
touted as the next big thing, jumping on the Funk Metal bandwagon that was going
strong then. They only received a modicum of success and Jason joined them for
their second album when you guessed it, they went grunge.....no ones heard from
them since!!

I would have to say, in my somewhat limited experience, that my favorite SG
song would have to be Somewhere. Probably the lyrics do it and the lead
guitar hook do it for me.

Here's a question to ponder: If there were ever a time that we could get the
members of SG to succumb to an interrogation of song meanings, what one song
would you have them clear up for you? You see, maybe I'm alone in this
thinking, but it is rare that I know exactly what every song is saying on every
record. I'm not sure as to what my response to my own question would be at the
moment, but I will think of one soon. Plus, any of you who see posts related
to a song that you have heard what it is about, PLEASE POST A RESPONSE!!!

My first listening experience left a lot to be desired. I got into my
friends car, and he had Badmotorfinger blasting, whil I was trying to tell
him something. I found the screeching guitar solos very annoying, and
generally didn't like them (understatement). A week later or so I borrowed
his walkman in a physics class (boring day), and began listening. The same
songs just sounded different. They were truly excellent, and a great way to
pass a high school class. Since then (approx 4 years ago) I have begun
collecting SG albums. I seem to like their older stuff better than the
newer. To date I have ten albums with SG songs on them. They are by far
my most favorite band out there.

Subject: BHS, Outshined, Crimson, SAP, nonsense

Hi everyone!
OK, first of all, how can any sane human being NOT like Black Hole
Sun???? I can understand the whiny guitar on the verses and the weird
video that nobody likes and all that, but, damn, the first time I heard
Superunknown, Head Down was the song to make my ears perk up and then BHS
bashed them in! You know why it's a good song? No matter how much it
gets "Played out" on the radio or MTV, I can still feel the emotion the
song conveys as well as the first time I ever heard it. So there!

Second, about the lyrics to Outshined. I am from California.
Oakland, California. The Bay Area. The ever so beautiful Bay Area.
Where Primus is from, no less. Northern California is beautiful, the
most beautiful state in the union, in my opinion, and I've seen most of them.
However, the Central Velley and southern California (hell) is a pit of
abandon. Everything is deveopled,
no country, no trees, no hills and parks and stuff, just cheap housing
covering the entire fucking once-beautiful California landscape. When
Chris sang "I'm looking California," he meant, "I'm looking like a great
big cesspool of crap."

Been to Minnesota in the winter, too, when my band cut our CD. It was 40
fucking below zero. It was unsafe to be outside. I have never been
chilled down past my bones to my very soul before until I went to
Minnesota in December. Feeling Minnesota, as Chris put it, is not
feeling happy.

For the older members on the list (Jamie, perhaps?) who remember the
70's, were any of you into King Crimson?? I just got a KC album called
"Red" and it is blowing me away. Bill Bruford is a monster behind the
drum kit. Robert Fripp is a maniac on the frets, too. I love every
song, but especially "one more Red nightmare". Bruford starts raging in
that song. Anyways....

Anyone whos's going to be in a 300 mile radius of Wake Forrest University
has to come see my band in April as we open for Dave Matthews Band.
April 19th and 20th. See you there hopefully!

I forgot who asked, but the album with Chris singing with Alice In Chains
is SAP. You must own this album. If you do not, leave your computer
immediately and go buy it.

SG song of the week: Mind Riot. Now--I've heard a few people state
their dislike for this song. You people are enigmas, a complete
mystery. What makes you people tick? I cannot comprehend your reasoning
for not liking this song. People I know say it makes them feel "ill,
sick, depressed, lonely, tired, queasy, melancholy, etc." Maybe that was
the point of the song, eh? In that case, SG succeeded in conveying that
feeling to you. Personally, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
That's why it's my personal choice for the SG song of the week.

L8!

misery by living. I don't know if I am getting what I am trying to say

all just disappear), which kind of supports my idea. Like, if a black sun

one will be in pain anymore. Everything just disappears. Anyway, that is
