To whoever was wondering about Ben's relationship with Kurt... Ben jammed with
Nirvana a couple times when the band was still getting its act together... In
the Nirvana book, "Come As You Are", it talks about the numerous drummers and
second guitar players the band went thru, and it also mentions Ben. Kurt is
quoted as saying that Ben was a nice guy, just a little too weird to be a member
of the band... :)

Indeed, this is so. The song list on the back of the album (Ultramega OK)
is a bit confusing... it looks like 665->667 is one track with Beyond the
Wheel after it, but it is actually 3 tracks... 665, Beyond the Wheel and 667.

I never paid any attention to this until I was entering in the playlist for
my Windows (shudder...) CD player program. I hope this clears this up for
those people (like me) who hadn't previously paid much attention to it.

I wonder why CC decided to record two reversed psychotic-sounding Satan
worship tracks on the CD? I mean, it's not as though they were necessary
or anything...

(maybe it's sarcasm... satire of all those bands who pretend they're the
antichrist etc...)

Anyone else have any thoughts to share on the matter?

Definitely Chris's way of poking fun. He has a quick wit and can and does
slipp it in to his music. I think the band (I know this is going to sound
strange) is really normal ever day type people - that's normal in the sense
that they deal with every day problems in the usual ways. Their life style may
be allot different from ours - but only because of the profession they are in.
They eat, sleep, get up set at social problems like we do, but I don't think
they are closet Satan worshipers or over the edge on the black arts in any way.

I missed that post! CC too old to rock and roll? No way!! As a 30 year
young woman I take offense!! Each time I've seen Soundgarden they've
given their best and CC has destroyed numerous innocent guitars as he
ran around the stage like a madman. He got really pissed off at this
one at the San Jose show last year and even started kicking it.
Urbano, como esta? I know it feels as though you've been ignored but
it could be worse, look at all the fighting and name calling going
on!! At least you have contributed something positive to the list
(your artwork). Keep it up! There needs to be more positive input
here.

Back to Soundgarden(sort of), I really think Kim was just joking about
the sex change thing!! Like someone said, let's have a sense of humor
people!!

Time to convert another friend, she was doing so well for awhile, (The
Stones, Doors, etc.) but now she's back into Enya, Reba and other
musically" challenging" artists like that. Although, she thinks that
Kim is "cute" and has a "good personality" after I made her watch
"Badmotorvision" last year. Now it's time to break out the 1992
Lolapalooza show taped in Seattle.I know that will get her!!

We'll raise our Castlemaine's to you Carolyn!!

how can you dictate how other people think and feel by generalizing

I'm proud to say I have no prejudices, regardless of what I'm
"supposed" to think... hell, I've got so many gay relatives that I've
lost count. And I respect them more than most people.

Hi folks, new list member here who couldn't let this post pass without
adding to it. When I saw Soundgarden here in Toronto last summer
(with NIN and a whole crapload of other bands) I too noticed that CC
had busted a guitar string and just went ballistic, tossed it right
across the stage just missing Kim. Then, later in the show his mic
gave out and he rid of that by tossing it way up into the rafters of
the stage setup. Needless to say, the sound of a mic hitting steel
rafters makes quite an interesting sound. That's all for now...

i have a green river album called `come on down'...it was released on
dutch east india trading or something like that, i can't remember what
year (86?)...only six songs, low quality recording, but not too bad,
overall...

anyway, there is no one from soundgarden on the album...mark arm
(vocals) and steve turner (lead gtr) from mudhoney are on it, as well as
stone gossard (rhythm gtr) and jeff ament (bass) from pearl jam...i can't
remember who the drummer is, but i thought that he went on to play for
another seattle band...i dunno...

there's a song on the album called `swallow my pride' that i've heard
was also played by soundgarden...i don't know who wrote the tune
first, but it's probably the best tune on the `come on down'
album...`corner of my eye' is cool, too...

...later...

Hail fellow Gardeners . Once again I bring thee good tidings
from Westminster College .

I first off would like to say that we all are a little
homophobic but the majority of us all can control it . For example ,
in Philadelphia , D. Washington is OK with defending T.Hanks but then
his own hatred gets the better of him and he snaps and gives all sorts
of homophobic epithets . After this , he is OK . He even goes to the
gay parties with Hanks . To sum it all up , we all are a little racist
or homophobic . CC is merely expressing his slight homophobia in a
less offensive way . As I have before , I commend him on his opinion
and the way it was tastefully expressed .

What is the deal with this talk of playing songs backward and finding
satanic messages ? I am pretty sure that SG would not write songs
about Jesus and then go and record a song with "I love you Satan" in
it on purpose . They say that Satan rules the world but God ( whose
real proper name is Yahweh ) rules the mind and soul . This is what "
Superunknown " is about .
"First it steals your mind , then it steals your soul "

Of course when you look at the way the words " Superunknown " are
written on the CD , you see that unknown is a mirror image . It may be
a way to sell tapes to the part of the public who likes the weird and
tghe eccentric or it may be that they want to illustrate the way that
something essentially good such as humans can be corrupted by the
world so that they cannot do what is good , but must do what they need
to do to survive .

As far as flaming the new participants , it should be done in such a
fashion that does not discourage them to feel that they are a nuisance
. The flame to a newcomer should be a polite not crass post to them
that explains the unspoken rules instead of grabbing them by the balls
and ripping them off .

To all of the new comers ,
Do not feel discouraged by the opinions expressed in this
digest . They are merely for discussion and insight . The flames that
you will possibly get are from peopl who think that Soundgarden is one
of the better bands . They fell strongly about their band and flame a
lot when nonSG-likers come in and try to come in and ... destroy the
image of the band . If you have an opinion you fell is relavent to the
conversation at hand or is SG related , I as a fellow Gardener would
like to say that you should submit it to the digest so that you can
see how many people agree or disagree with you . As of late the motto
seems to be " Post all you want , we'll flame more " so post it anyway
.

To BadMtrFngr ,
To facilitate the flow of new ideas , please try to refrain
from telling people not to post to our glorious list . It is not
polite . Would you like it if someone told you that the first day you
posted ? I have looked at the previous digests and you have ... um ..
uh ... pretty abnormal views ? So you should not tell others what to
do . Other than that , post all you want .

To Flamers with a Fresh pack of fuel ,
You can always use that fuel for good .

I bid you all Happy Gardening ,

The frontman was asking the crowd how many thought oj was guilty or not

I think this person is a moron who probably doesn't even know how to use a
computer and another thing, I am doing this free through college, but even
if I wasn't, I would have subscribed to this list. That's really all I can
say. What a moron. -Sara

Well, i read in yet another interview Chris saying that he didn't really
know Kurt that well, but he respected his music. -j

Why is saying Ben is on Heroin marring him? -j

Were you here earlier for the "Big veins" discussion. My theory was that he
was on heroien. It's just an assumption, read the disclaimer below.

Howdy, there seems to be a bit of conversation about supposed rip off
bands, but it seems that some of us are getting a bit trivial. If we are
going to nit-pick, then Led Zeppelin ripped off Jeff Beck, and everyone
ripped off early Chicago blues. Just my two cents worth.

I will be passing the collection plate at the big get-together.

Seriously though, the whole Soundgarden Web page/mailing list project
is only possible because of people like you who contribute. This is
YOUR mailing list, and it's YOUR Web page, not mine.
