Someone askedi f anyone has heard of the band Clutch. I think they are a
very good band, but I'm not sure some of you guys out there would like it.
The singer has a very death metalesque grinding voice but the music
doesn't sound like
death metal (although it is quite heavy at times). A lot of their songs are
just fun. If you feel like trying them I would recommend their first LP
called Transnational Speedway Anthems (the new one is OK but their first
one is better IMHO). The song A Shogun Named Marcus is a good time (my
favorite Clutch song). That's all for now.

OK. Here goes:

#s 1 and 2: "Bit down on the bullet now
I had a taste so sour
I had to think of something sweet
	    Love's like suicide
	    Safe outside my gilded cage
	    With an ounce of pain
I wield a ton of rage
	    Just like suicide."
                                 --C. Cornell

#3: "And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll."
                                  --R. Plant

hey, did anyone check out the new spin magazine? they did this
really cool article where they aged some music personalities, and
one of them just happened to be chris cornell at age 51.
he looked very scary. anyways, they predicted that chris cornell
would go onto a solo career and the rest of the band would
hire the talentless singer from candlebox. yeah sure.

Yes, check and make sure that your stereo is hooked up to the speaker
PERFECTLY!!! Check all the cables to that speaker, from the CD out to the
speaker in...and push them in tightly.

Hope that works.

>So, you play guitar. Do you play in a band? What kind of guitar do you play?
>How long have you played? What kind of music; own material or covers?

Funny you should say that. Right now, I have no band...but I might soon. See,
this band is looking for a new vocalist, and I play a little guitar (back to
my good-old Fender Acoustic) so I might be in a local band.

>How can a man sing in that pitch, Chris kicks a whole lot of ass.
>It would be fun if you could answer.

As a singer myself...here's the exact deal. Chris has a very low voice
(Beyond The Wheel, Power Trip) when he sings naturally. But, he sliped into a
head voice for almost every other song (Hunted Down, Mood For Trouble, Gun,
Big Dumb Sex, and more) and that is what made him sound a little weak. In
order to flip into your head voice, it's just a natuaral thing. Instead of
singing from your chest, sing from your head. It'll leave you sounding like a
wussy soprano guy...but with a little work you'll have a Chris voice.
BUT...for Badmotorfinger, he was able to extend his _NATURAL_ voice into the
range needed for the songs. If you listen, you can hear a distinct difference
in the notes from the transition of Louder to BMF. BMF is lower, but
stronger, because that's where Chris is natural.
For you and me and half the world to cover Chris is tough, however. He has
such a low Bass voice that most people don't have. Then, when he gets into
the head voice, he stretches higher in that so he has a lot of range up
there. Practice, practice, practice.

No! We already went through this, if you would have read your earlier
messages. Maybe they did want to call it Louder Than Fuck and Badmotherfucker
but they didn't, and I see no reason to call it something it's not. So
please, grow up, and call it by it's true name. We may know the truth, but I
don't think we are doing to band any justice.

>Second, I'm afraid I don't hold it in as high regard as some others here.

Okay, agreed. But I still feel it is one of the strongest albums ever. It is
a transition, it is dark, it is sac-religious, and it is a statement.

>"Face Pollution" blows my mind. But "Mind Riot" is unlistenable (Cornell

Oh be quiet. If you _UNDERSTOOD_ Mind Riot, you might like it. Next
time...try and I-N-T-E-L-L-I-G-E-N-T response. It is one of my favorite songs
soley for the fact that it is about fighting with yourself.

>And what's the deal with the saxophones?

It adds a new twist. We could easily say "What's the deal with the Clarinet,
Cello, and Melotron?" We could say "What's the deal with the crash cymbol,
china boy, and bass drum?" and we could say "What's the deal with the
guitar?" It all adds a twist that we may never have heard before.

>Let's face it, it was a transitional album. They had lost the unbridled

Yamamoto isn't exactly ferocious in my mind. Yamamoto is talented, smart, and
angry. Listen to Circle Of Power. That's anger. That's skill.

>There wil never be another "Power Trip" or "I awake" (perhaps my two
favorites of

Seriously? I don't really see I Awake as a skillful song. It's good, but it's
nothing compared to Limo Wreck or Mood For Trouble.

Yes, the official Soundgarden page is down, it seems. You can still
access Rocktropolis via http://rocktropolis.com (instead of using the
underground.net address), but when you get to the "city" imagemap and
click on "Soundgarden" you get the same "URL not found" error. I've
