Hello,
This is my first post, I'm a mexican student and, even
when I've read the list for about a month, I'm also an ignorant
fan.

I was thinking that perhaps those with the ability to
record AU, WAV (or any sound format), perhaps could record a
short sample of rare tracks, UUencode it and share it with the
others. Perhaps this could make distant and often forgotten
fans like me closer to the real action of being a SG fan.

OK, that's a good idea, since sg don't wanna discuss lyrics, we should do
it ourselves.

Sorry, can't get to Austin, but i will be on the lookout for Retarded Elf.

Um, Sponge is the band that sings "molly", unless your talking about that
other band that sings a song called molly, and i doubt you think Deadeye
Dick has an excellent career in front of them. I've seen Sponge twice in
concert, and yes they kick ass. They never played my favorite Sponge
song, though: "Neenah Menasha" I loved that song since it was released.
And nobody else even recognizes it now. But i do. It's the perfect
combination of power and melody, imho. Oh, but Sponge did do a cover of
"Speed Racer". That was cool.

Ok, i can see where most of those bands could have decent careers, but
James? I bought one of their cd's for the song "laid" and other than
that song, there is nothing on that cd that turns me on, even the
slightest bit. But that's just my worthless opinion. -j

Strange - what's that the problem my neighbors have living next door to me and
I'm not even in a band, let alone cool and suave (is it correct for a lady to
be suave)!

I have told that Chris plays his music very loud - so do I. I'm sure they (the
band) come and go at strange hours - so do I. Have strange friends over - so
do I. They make large amounts of money - so do naaaaaaa... I like people that
are eccentrics, they could live beside me or with me for that matter any time
they want.

Sorry I, can respond to you in Spanish, but I do know a phase in Swahili:

I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING THIS DIGEST FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND AT FIRST I
WASN'T SURE IF I WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE! YOU ARE ALL SO DEDICATED I FELT
THAT MAYBE I WASN'T IN YOUR LEAGUE. (I LOVE SOUNDGARDEN.. BUT EQUALLY AS
MUCH I LOVE ALL MUSIC) AFTER WATCHING YOU I REALIZED A SOUNDGARDEN FAN IS A
SOUNDGARDEN FAN AND THEY COME IN ALL SHAPES, SIZES, AND FLAVORS. UP UNTIL
NOW I HADN'T EVER HAD A REASON TO SEND A MESSAGE. MAYBE I WAS A LITTLE
SCARED. (OR A LOT) BUT NONETHELESS, I HAVE RUN ACROSS A QUESTION THAT ONLY
YOU CAN GIVE A SPEEDY RESPONSE TO. I LIVE IN PORTLAND OR. AND THIS WEEKEND
WE ARE HOSTING THE NXNW MUSIC CONFERENCE. 120 BANDS, IN 20 CLUBS, OVER 3
DAYS. (15 BUCKS GETS YOU IN ALL THE CLUBS. NOT BAD.) BUT ANYWAY, TO THE
POINT. TRULY IS ONE OF THE BANDS THAT WILL BE PLAYING. I HAVE SEEN MESSAGES
ABOUT THEM AND I KNOW THAT HIRO IS IN THE BAND. WHAT I DON'T KNOW IS WHAT
KIND OF MUSIC THEY PLAY, ARE THEY ANY GOOD, DO I PUT THEM ON MY SCHEDULE
THIS WEEKEND, ETC.?
THANX
JAIMEE (AT LEAST IT'S SPELLED DIFFERENT)
P.S. SORRY IT'S SO LONG. IT'S MY FIRST TIME.

First off....dont write in all capital letters. It's considered bad
netiquette and it's the equivalent of shouting.

your not. just kidding. All are welcome....few actually participate.
There are over 250 people on this list. Can anyone name more than 10-15
who actually post messages.

> I LOVE SOUNDGARDEN.. BUT EQUALLY AS MUCH I LOVE ALL MUSIC

why shouldnt you love all kinds of music? Well the decline of 20th
century american morals can be traced to the increase in popularity of
country music and R&B. Just kidding. I bet some of you were waiting to
hit the reply button..lighting the torch on your flamethrowers. Musical
diversity should be welcomed with open arms. I hope some of you read the
lead article in todays Music News of the World section in the online
rag...Addicted to Noise. No expanation necessary.

scared. Of what? words? phrases? clauses? "Conjunction, Junction
what's your function?" (an injoke to the 20 something's out there). God,
dont be scared of words. What's the worst that can happen? Someone says
"NO"? Someone calls you an idiot? Someone threatens you with bodily harm?
Get up...Brush yourself off...learn from the encounter and move on. Why
go through life being an empty voice...express yourself in whatever way
that says "this is me".

Yeah but if the conference is like the CMJ conference in NYC...you'd
better get to club early. There is only so much space once all the
record company weasels are allowed in.

I have heard stories that when the band is "on" they are really good. I
have also heard that when they're bad...well you get the picture. They
sound sorta like: early SG, Pink Floyd (with Syd Barrett), Swervedriver,
Catherine Wheel. Very spacy...and VERY TALENTED! They sound nothing
like the present day SG. If you can get in...I suggest you go. If for
nothing else...I bet you havent heard anything like them before....HEY you
just might like them.

Soundgarden (as far as I know) has not released a special CD-ROM. If
you purchase the full version of Windows 95, there is an SG clip on
it. I've also been told that some SG music appears on Microsoft
Encarta 95. Their forthcoming release will be in the new CDplus
format (see old posts in the archive, or check out either my Web page
or the official website), which could be considered a partial CD-ROM.
