* As for a Woodstock-type gathering of us Soundgarden list people, the
person to contact is definitely NOT me. If someone wants to arrange
such a meeting, though, I'd consider attending it. It might be
interesting; we can spend hours discussing how much we like
Soundgarden and how much we hate Pearl Jam. We can have a big cake in
the shape of Ben's Lyle Lovett-looking head and an Eddie Vedder pinata
filled with copies of BMF/SOMMS.

* In answer to some of the posts that have appeared recently asking
list members about their ages and whether or not they play
instruments: I'm 20 (just turned 20 on Sunday) and have been playing
the viola for 12 years. I played violin briefly, when I was 3 and 4
years old (Suzuki nursery school, where playing the violin is
mandatory). I've just started learning to play the piano.

* I don't own _Supermainstream_, but I'd be interested in getting a
tape copy if someone would make one for me. In return, I can make a
copy of _Superuninterview_, which is, like it sounds, an interview
with the SG boys. The second half of the CD includes only the answers,
so DJs could fake the interview (the questions are in the insert).

* I just found out that my suitemate has met SG and that they actually
still correspond. She claims to have Valentine's Day and Christmas
cards from the boys, which she's having her mother send to her here at
college. If and when I see these cards, which she claims feature
unique SG photos, I'll scan them and make them available for everyone.

* I haven't had any time to work on the Web page recently, but I will
get to it and add more stuff soon. Look for more articles and images,
especially (MoonDruid, thanks for the article you sent me). There
should also (finally) be some sound clips soon (Tom, any news?).

* SEND YOUR UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO SAPERL@MIT.EDU

* I'm still dealing with bounced mail. Let me know if certain
addresses are giving you trouble. I already know about MCI.NET and
I've removed the troublesome address. Unfortunately, mail remains in
the queue there for 150 hours or so, so you could still receive
bounced messages that you wrote several days ago.

Send any questions or comments to me and I'll do my best to answer
them.

I'm still not quite sure what this is all about, but apparently there
is some kind of online concert that will feature, among others,
Soundgarden. Since I don't know what the hell is going on, check out

Alright. Let's just all stop with the talk about lyrical meaning, musical
quality, past records, and everything else about SG for a moment. Let's
just take a moment to think about how it's pretty cool to have a band
that we like so much it makes us feel good, and also gives us a feeling of
pride when sharing it with others. "Hey what's your favorite band? Mine is
*********." "My favorite band is Soundgarden." Now, don't tell me that
doesn't give you a certain feeling of satisfaction. I'm not a psychotic SG
follower but I'd like to acknowledge that it's just good that they are
present. I hope you guys know what I mean.

I recently took a trip down to the rock and roll hall of fame
(its ten minutes from my house), and found it to actually
have a section all on soundgarden in it. The only catch
is, the admission is 11 bucks, but it is definately
worth it. Some of the soundgarden memorbilla they have
is a 5 year old picutre of chris cornell, various
concert posters from the early days, the guitar chris cornell
played in the loud love video, matt cameron drum sticks,
and the first soundgarden tee shirt ever made....
oh yeah, the other part of the museum is pretty
cool too, they have two jimi hendrix guitars and the

I dunno...it's not REALLY their style. They could pull it off, but I have
this odd feeling that the next album is going to be a metal album.

Oh, and BTW, Mood For Trouble would be pretty sweet if it was acoustic.

so ya'll want to hear SG unplugged? I dont.

It would be OK if they were actually trying something "new"...but the
unplugged formula is old and boring. I guess it would alright if they
'wanted' to do it for their own personal satisfaction. (as opposed to some
record company weasels recommendations).

Actually if CC ever left to do a solo project...(Songs for Ozzy EP, Seasons,
Like Suicide (acoustic)) - I'd love to hear CC solo with a National Steel
Guitar. Just his voice and the music. We'll probably be hearing this 15-20
years down the road. When all the greying Seattle band members head for
their rocking chairs. (and their acoustic guitars)

Rock music is cyclical...everything eventually repeat's itself.

Who will be the Neil Young of 2015?

one more thing to add to today's hang-over induced ramblings....

In the new SUB POP catalog their is a book that will be going on sale
sometime in october. It's a book of charles peterson photographs. In case
you didnt know (and i know alot of you dont)...charles peterson is the
official SUB POP photographer. He's been documenting the scene from the
beginning. His style is sort of all hair and blured images.

Right above the photograph of a SUB POP backpack...there is the Screaming
Life album cover in its entirety. You can see a roadie and the room they're
playing in.

Anyway...The book is called Screaming Life - BY Charles Peterson with
michael azarrad.

It's hardcover - (would this be a coffee table book?) and sells for $35.00
Here is the exact ad.

Ok, first lesson. Don't you dare ever call Candlebox a Seattle band
again or even use their names in the same sentence with Soundgarden,
MotherLove Bone, Pearl Jam, AIC, Nirvana, Screaming Trees, or even Mudhoney.

I don't think that would work. I don't see what would Kim and Ben do in
such situation. On the other hand, a solo acoustic effort by Chris would
kick major ass, IMHO.

I'd like to add 'sweat covered beast' called Dave Abbruzzesse, ex-PJ. He
had that incredoible way of sneaking in quiet cymbal fills, ghost snares
and stuff like that. Try to listen to a remixed version of Even Flow
(the one on the single and the video), or any PJ bootleg with him on
drums.

Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Will (?) Clahoun (Living Colour), Nicko McBrain
(Iron Maiden), Stewart Copeland (The Police) and Ginger Baker (Cream)
deserve to be mentioned also.

Because music has a certain impact on me, my emotions and my mood. If I
just wanted a kick ass rock I would be listening to Aerosmith, AC/DC and
stuff like that. But, I mean, how many songs about getting laid and
speeding on a highway do we need? I want music I listen to to be both
musically and intelectually chalanging. Soundgarden, among others, cover
both points pretty well.
