Nancy, I'm not one who's over 30, but I'm afraid to say I'm closer to 30
than 20.......................... It kinda gave me a shock when I also saw
somebody on the list complaining that they couldn't get into a concert for
over 18s. I guess I assumed I was in the majority - aged between 20 and 30.
But it seems I'm not!

Jamie is right. Music tastes don't necessarily age!! And I just love her
last sentence...............can we all come to your 112th birthday, Jamie?
I'll even buy you a rock n' roll album!!

That ecksplains it! I've always found myself ruminating about the eerie
resonance between Lyle's "I Love Everybody," and the Hater album. For a
while, I tried to brush off the nods to the Violent Femmes on the Hater
album to ringworm, dysentery, and/or an abiding respect for OJ's acting
in, "Goldie and the Boxer." It didn't work. I was disquieted. I was
confused. And this explains it...Lyle and Ben are one! The duet so perfect
that they saw no need for trinity. Can dig. I fully expect Lyle's next
album to have an ode to his lost love, Julia, closely following the melody
to "Who Do I Kill," on the Hater album.

As for other messages (yeah, I'm a digest guy)...it positively slays me
that anyone other than matt cameron can play a matt cameron drum line. To
the feller whose friend can play J.C.P on traps...my wholehearted salute.
Not an easy task. For my money, Mr. Cameron is the best going these days.
For me, it's that premium on musicianship that makes Soundgarden to top o'
the heap. No one else in the game can come close to approaching their
chops. The boys can flat play.

I'd say more, buy my cat just left a big ole turd on my desk, and it
smells something fierce. To the kleenex, my liege! To the kleenex!

Why are people so concerned about Chris Cornell's lyrics, i mean okay,
so you don't understand them all, but does it really matter. The
concept of lyrics is to make your own conclusions, and if you want,
relate to it. What Chris Cornell thinks is irrelevent.

Why are clubs so shit? Depends who you ask doesn't it?

MTV awards? Once a year, a bunch of egotistical cunts step out, win
awards for fuck all, and then thank their producer, nice one, the
only group of people they have to thank is the people who buy their
records because they're the ones who put them there - and they don't
even get to select the candidates or winners for the majority of awards.
So how the fuck does that figure?

Mad Season? Oh yes, a fine band indeed.

Neil Young? I thought he was dead. Well, it takes a rapidly becoming
"commercial" band like Pearl Jam to revive his career doesn't it? I
bet they'll sell a few more records indeed.

Soundgarden, best band with the most talent? There's more than one
 band out there you know.

Seeing as though I've just appointed myself as Mr. Opinion then I'll tell
all of you that don't own it to run out and buy Foo Fighters, if they
got a bit more play on MTV most of you probably would.

OK, so I must defend my man Ben again. First off, his musical ability - he can
play a fine bass and his guitar work in Hater is nothing short of great. Ben
writing is good and he will get better as he matures (lets not forget he is the
baby in the group - just turning 27 this Sept. 20th). Maybe this is why he
reacts badly to certain situations that happens at a concert.

Now on this looks issue. If you all remember I started a rocky posting about
looks a few weeks ago that cause most of our male member to shutter (talking
about looks is such a girlie thing). Blind Dog did ask me at that time if I
though Ben look like Lyle. Well I guess he does in certain pictures. But I
have created two BMP of Ben that he in no way looks like Lyle.

We all know that Chris is the big female draw of the group - dark, brooding,
and sexy! And I agree Chris is very good looking (in most pictures), but Ben
just does it for me. And lets not forget who Lyle is married to! Men who look
like Lyle usually have very fine lady's.

I also think that J of the White Zombies looks like Chris. But my 14 year old
niece thinks that Chris looks meaner than J. Chris would probably love that
remark, he so does enjoy being on the wrong side of reason.

Ben is not Lyle Lovett!!! and In regards to the Ben throwing Tantrums
thing, Ben did not throw a tantrum either time that i saw them live.
Secondly I do not believe that a Musician should be completely Civil to
fans that are being assholes toward him. I'm a fairly calm and easy going
person but I would become very irritated very rapidly if someone was
harrassing me during a show. A show is a two way street, the Artist has a
responsibility to put on a good show, and at the same time the fan should
respect the artist enough to allow him to perform. As for his song writing
I love it, half was a little strange but lets not forget the man is weird.
But I personally hope his song writing improves if he could write a better
song than head down, I'd be in heaven.

Way to go Clown, maybe the reason I like Ben and his music so much is because
(as you say) he's WEIRD. I have always had a problem with middle of the road
normal - especially in the rock world. Music (rock) should always be right on
the edge, ready to fall into the abyss of the unknown. As far as his writing
goes, he will create some really good music in the future - write it down -
when he creates a really big hit for SG/Hater, we can say I predicted it.

Hmmmm, interesting. I actually had the Foo Fighters album on my list of
things to buy..............after Tumbleweed's new one (that will only have
meaning to the Aussies on this list), a Soundgarden old one, the Singles
soundtrack, and of course RHCP's "One Hot Minute".
Good to see there are varied opinions out there! {would be a rather dull

ANYWAY, I wasn't going to bother responding to Stacy's note even though I

Amen Brother!!!! I admitt I started listening to Soundgarden during the

the TDITTL and Fourth OF July and Fresh Tendrills thats what made me run
out and buy it. I rarely watch MTV. I did not watch it from freshman year
in high school untill my freshman year in college and that was because I
loved the live version of fell on black days. Personally I have a tendency
to dislike bands that are popular, Most of the music I listen to I heard
of through friends. I have to admitt there are a few bands I started
listening to through MTV but it takes a damn good song to make me stop on
my way channel surfing past MTV. If I was a MTV influenced music buyer I
would be praising Pearl Jam, and I would Be a big Live fan (even though
all there songs have the same basic musical and Lyrical structure) So
don't Ever think I'm a Mtv influenced Idiot.
