Its kinda cool to see a few posts that are not related to Soundgarden (I
did it last week, when I mentioned the Black Crowes - BTW, they were
awesome last night at HORDE) but seeing 3 or 4 posts about Pearl Jam is
like pulling teeth. PJ never had a good album. Eddie Vedder is a fake.
If he can't take the heat, then he should get his superficial talentless ass
out of the kitchen. He says he hates all this attention? No, I don't
think so. He loves it....it builds his ego......he loves being the rock
star he is. He can't live without it, so to make sure he doesn't lose
this euphoric feeling, he starts controversy and bitches and moans about
Ticketmaster. Do you know how much money he saved fans? About a buck
fifty. THANKS EDDIE!!!!! Now I only need $18.50 more to buy a shirt that
cost about $3 to make. Eddie Vedder is the Anti-Christ.
To make this Soundgarden related, has there been any
announcements about a N.America tour yet?

Well did anyone see MTV's 120 min. on Sunday night?

For once MTV had a half decent show. The show covered the Reading
thing. It had a short clip of the bands, the latest video of the bands, and
a short interview with the bands. And you ask what bands did they do.
 OH!! White
Zombie, Smashing Pumpkins, Pennywise, Beck, Blind Melon, Silverchair,
and YES,
YES, YES - Soundgarden.

They showed "Fell on Black Days", showed just a second or two of the
live performance (they did show Ben so I was happy) and interview
Chris and Kim. They were ask about a new album - and did Chris and
Kim give a good answer -
NOOOOO!. Chris talked about having allot of material and how hard it is
to make a choice on what should go on the next release. But no date -
since SG has a good manager and record producer - I think they will
come out near the
Christmas time slot. When Chris was asked why they were doing the
European tour - he flatly stated the money.

Kim also made a comment about seeing the queen's rear (my word - his
was less tactful). All in all the few minutes they were on was good.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Actually they don't have a good producer if you're thinking of michael
bienhorn 'cos they are doing it themselves.

Okay, Dan - firstly you'll probably get a few replies (esp from Clown)
telling you off for even THINKING about discussing Pearl Jam on the
Soundgarden mailing list. But I won't!

The first PJ album I ever bought was Vs. I had listened to Ten but it
wasn't mine so I couldn't thrash it over & over on my stereo. Anyway,
as a result I like Vs. the best. I reckon as a general rule, the album of a
band you hear first you like the most. I just LOVE the "fastness" of the
songs on Vs - like Rearview Mirror, Glorified G, Leash, Go, Animal -
they are great for pumping you up!............and Rats is just different,
really cool...........and nothing can quite beat listening to Eddie's fantastic
strong voice in Daughter and Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a
Small
Town (although of course Chris in Black Hole Sun is also very powerful
- - no
I'm NOT comparing them, I REFUSE to)..................and Eddie sounds so
MOURNFUL in Indifference that it's hard not to feel moved when listening
to it. In fact there's no song on Vs I dislike.

That's just my humble opinion. I'm not even going to mention Ten &
Vitalogy
- - though I think they both have their merits. Still, to me, Vs is the best.

{Just got Blind Dog's response - seems he & I have a similar taste in
music!}

Cheers, Dog, and Dan ~

It was the second PJ album I got in fact, so there goes your theory.

Yes, both bands were interviewed.

Pennywise, as in most of their interviews - put down anyone over the age of 21
that doesn't do some type of boarding (snow/skate ). They also made the
remark, lie to their parents about how you are hurt - if hurt at a concert
(pit accidents). Now I ask you - a teenager goes to a concert whole and come
home with a broken something and they'll going to tell their parents it happen
at school (stupid).
They gave no useful output on their music. Sorry to sound so negative on this
group, but they tend to rub me the wrong way. Any band that aims their music
at one age group is bound to fail sooner or later.

Silverchair - they are still a little young and new to the interview scene,
they were being interview during the White Zombie set, and they wanted to hear
it, (they were distracted). When they were asked about their comparison to PJ
- - - the singer (Dan?) asked who PJ was, then after a second he figure out who
they were talking about, and simple said Oh them. I really feel that given the
time to grow as artist they could very well create some good music. Maybe they
will do better at the MTV pre Music Awards show.

Out of the 6 or 7 bands that were feature, Soundgarden and White Zombie did the
best. The worst was Smashing Pumpkin (Billy needs help badly) and Blind Melon
- - - boring.

Is it just me or do you think that J of White Zombie looks like Chris?

Maybe not a good producer, but I think their manager (Chris's wife) will make
sure the money issues are all taken into consideration.

I know your problem, Windows95.

Haven't you heard yet? Windows95 is the work of Lucifer, it sucks your file
system into the deepest pits of Hell to rot for eternity while it sinks
its teeth into your mainboard and drains what little potential was left
after installing Windows 3.11 . It's already cut you off from the
Internet, what next? Windows95 is the beginning of the end, it is
designed to bring about the destruction of all mankind. Have you heard
4th of July? That's what Windows95 will do to your computer.

Bill Gates must die.

Microsoft haven't even managed to get their Windows95 Official Support
webpage working, yet they expect us to believe they can write an Operating
System?! I think not...

Incidentally, does anyone know of a Soundgarden screensaver for Windows 3.1?
I think it's the only thing that could persuade me to not hate Windows
immensely.

One of the reason I loaded Win95 was to find the clip of Soundgarden that comes
with the upgrade - Silly Me!!!

There is a small musical sample of Soundgarden in the Encarda product. I also
try finding the new CD-plus "Live in the Superunknow" this weekend. Most of
the record clerks I ask, just stood there with a dumb look and droll dripping
down their chin. God I get totally crazy when I enter a record store and have
to deal with salesperson who thinks the Lion King is the best music out there.
Has anyone seen this CD, if so are the clips and games any good?

a SG song on the Home Alive compilation will be out in november.

Kim Thayil plays guitar on a track on the Willie Nelson (or johnny cash)

New studio album due.....early summer 1996. I'm assuming they mean the

BtW: new Alice in Chains album....I believe its called "tripod"? is due
out Novemeber 7th. Also a CD-plus for the AiC title "jar of flies" is

Hey kids. I've got an interesting bit for ya'. About a year ago I was at
a record collector's show at a Holiday Inn. I picked up a Soundgarden
bootleg cassette tape entitled "Crown of Thorns" for $8.00. The very same
day I saw the EXACT same bootleg on CD at the local record store. They
wanted $75.00 for it! I felt mighty proud that I had saved myself $67.00.
The tape is of good quality. The show is from Rock City (I think) in
England in 1992. The set list is about everything from Badmotorfinger and
lots of stuff from Louder Than Love and Screaming Life. There's also a
track called "Into the Void." Is that Black Sabbath? I also got a bootleg
video tape entitled "16 Cylinders, 10 Gears, No Brakes." It's from a show
in Tacoma, WA in 1992. The set list is: Gun, JCP, Outshined, Big Dumb
Sex, Ugly Truth, Rusty Cage, Searching With My Good Eye Closed and Slaves &
Bulldozers. It's pretty dope. The last time I saw SG was June of 1994 at
Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, MI. If anyone knows where I can get that
bootleg, please let me know. 'Till next time.....

chrown of thorns is a 2CD set. You can find it at just about any cool
record store...I've seen it for $40 bucks plus shipping from some
reputable stores.

Let me just add...NEVER, NEVER, NEVER pay over 25 bucks for a bootleg CD.
(that's per CD). There are plenty of places on the 'net where you can
get stuff A LOT! cheaper! AS for the cassette....unless the person
selling it actually did the recording....try not to buy anything from
people who are looking to make a buck selling other peoples work. If you
can ... trade for it. If you have nothing to trade...you're probably
gonna have to pay for it. Alot of people do 2-1 blank tape trades. (with
you paying for everything (tapes, shipping etc.). If the seller is
selling a 90-100 minute tape for over $5 bucks (which includes shipping
to you)...they are making a profit off ya.

your refering to the 7/13/92 lollapalooza show in seattle. the one with
eddie vedder singing backup vocals to outshined. great show. the only
bad part about it....is....the first 9 minutes are cut out of everyone's
copy. they start out playing gun with a black box at the bottom of the
screen with the running time.

I don't think it's a sin to hate pj. Not a sin to dislike ANY band.

But don't forget, it's also not a sin to LIKE pj. Not a sin to like ANY
band, for that matter..............................

THE END of the pj discussion - how about it????

Being a Soundgarden list I won't go on too much:-).

I get the impression that some of you guys take this Pearl Jam bashing pretty
seriously. I mean, to go out of your way to really trash a band, in my
opinion, is destructive (not to mention pretty stupid).
Opinions of music vary, thats why there is so much music around, to appeal to
all tastes.
A lot of people love Pearl Jam. Are you guys trying to say that their
opinions don't count, and only yours do?
Grow up.

Go Clown...I agree with you too. I get way sick of all their posing.
Since VS, they've done nothing worthy of their status as the 'gods' of
grunge. Let's talk real music.....SOUNDGARDEN!

I hate to say it....but I actually really "like" all 3 Pearl Jam albums.
I actually own all of their CD-singles and I have a bunch of bootlegs by
the band.

During an unknown bootleg....Eddie V. actually sings part of OUtshined
before he goes into leash. It sounds really cool. He also sings Hunger
Strike sans mr. cornell. The two bands are really close... both
personally and sound wise. ('cept SG is more talented)

Of the Three PJam CD's...Vs. is my favorite. The sound is just better. "Go"
is my favorite PJam song...just because of the bass line. The new album
Vitalogy is "OK" (IMHO their worst) but I really wish they kept Dave A.
around a while longer. I love jazz influenced drummers (neil pert, matt
cameron, that guy in megadeth etc.) the new guy is a punk influenced
drummer which leads to a plodding rhythm style. That style is just
fine..but I prefer a jazz-influenced sound.

But...I enjoy listening to Mother Love Bone more...(because none of there
songs was 'played/reviewed/talked about" to death in any form of music
media).

Maybe we should we start up a support group for displaced PJam fans in a SG
mailing list? ;-)

back to the books...

childish and pathetic.
A lot of people love Pearl Jam. Does that mean people who like Pearl Jam

opinion the only one that matters?
