Artis is his real-name? I have heard he's latvian emigrant...and his full
name is Arturs Karotnieks. 'Spoon' in latvian is 'karote' so he become
spoonman. If you've worked with him maybe you know is that true or not?
It's interesting for me because i'm latvian too. btw, is anybody else on
this list from this small dirty country?

well, it's nice to be there. i love soundgarden

Definately!!! Offspring are one of my fave bands at the moment (as well as
SG and Silverchair...). I haven't got SMASH yet... it's one of the purchases
on my current wish list though. Come Out and Play and Self Esteem are both
excellent tracks. I've heard one or two other Offspring singles on RAGE
(for you Aussies out there...) but I can't remember the names. Self Esteem
is very popular at the nightclubs here, even those that usually play techno
or dance.

RE: Chain Letter Freak... Yeah, those chain letters are annoying. One of my
friends is nearly at the point of mail-bombing the persons account. Anyone
else think this might help stop the childish and immature games?

Hi,

Speaking of Silverchair, I do love them, but do you (or anyone) have any
idea what the are saying in the verse right before they say "Wait til
tomorrow" in their song "Tomorrow". I can't figure it out and I'm too
broke right now to get the CD.

Hello

First post here, nice to meet you all

I don't know if this has been stated before on here (didn't see it in the
digested postings on the homepage) but Soundgarden a few weeks ago was
having a photo shoot as Gasworks Park in Seattle. What the photos were for
I don't know, but at this stage it very well could be a shoot for the pics
that may go in the new album... or I could hope it is. Anyways... hope to
hear some good stuff in the future.

Carolyn, i live in garden grove, ca, which is where the offspring live (or
used to) and went to high school, so they're sort of like, our hometown
heroes (well, next to steve martin) but anyway, i know they have another
album, a self-titled one, that is out of print, so good luck finding a copy.
anyway, i saw them in concert last march. nothing mind-blowing, but they
didn't suck. actually, i didn't see much of the concert, i was kicked in the
eye in the pit early on in the show and i couldn't see straight for a week.
well, that's all i have to say about that... :) --danielle

Concerning your recent email regarding silverchair, I agree that they cannot
play how many damn Pearl Jam clones do we need. They sound like Stp/Pearl
Jam/Nirvana/Aic/ going through puberty. You can hear elements from those bands
if you listen to the music and vocal style. It's one thing to have influences
but quite another to just rob someonw elses style.

I know this is the Soundgarden mailing list, but remember, Silverchair is
"soundkindergarden"!

TOMORROW
It's 12 o'clock and it's a wonderful day
I know you hate me but I'll ask anyway
Won't you come with me to a place in a little town
The only way to get there is to go straight down
There's no bathroom and there is no sink
The water out of the tap is very hard to drink
Very hard to drink

You wait till tomorrow
You wait till tomorrow

You say that money isn't everything
Well, I'd like to see you leave without it
You think you can keep on going living like a king
Ooh babe but I strongly doubt it

Very hard to drink, very hard to drink
you're gonna wait till fat boy, fat boy, wait till tomorrow
you're gonna wait till fat boy, fat boy, wait till tomorrow

You wait till tomorrow, you wait till tomorrow
you're gonna wait till fat boy, fat boy wait till tomorrow
you're gonna wait till fat boy, fat boy wait till tomorrow

{the only part I'm not sure about is "fat boy" What in the world is this
song about?????)

hey people,
This is Jeremy, provider of the other Soundgarden page. Just got back from
summer break, so...

I've seen a lot of talk about Silverchair so far. Buy the album. They might be
young but they can fuckin thrash. They also thank You Am I in the credits. They
were on tour w/ Soundgarden last summer and were pretty good, but i can't find
anything from them in the States.

Good bands at the moment:
Filter: Makes me want to take another piece
 Silverchair: 'nuff said
Mudhoney: Still has that original Seattle attitude
 Hum: solemn temper
Foo Fighters: captures a kick that alternative music needs right now
Monster Magnet: may the psychadelic 60's live in the 90's

Bands that are starting to suck:
Pearl Jam: Don't call them good, not ment to. (Except for "Ten")
Letters To Cleo: Wholesale Sell Out
U2: Have for a while now
Green Day: I think this is a general consensus among REAL Soundgarden fans
 Hole: should jump in one

well, this is my weekly vent. If you are offended, you care to much. (and i can
defend my choices).

Catch me on the MegaDiner as LimoWreck. later y'all!

And now I'M writing:
Howdy, Clown! I like the way you write. Doesn't mean I agree with what you
say, but that doesn't matter. I mean, who really gives a shit? As long as
we all like Soundgarden, hey? That's the reason we're on this list.

Maybe I'm not fussy enough about the music I listen to, because I like heaps
of different bands. Including Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Silverchair. Like you
wrote about there being no prerequisite that says to like Soundgarden you
must like Pearl Jam - there's also none that says to like Soundgarden you
must NOT like PJ, Nirvana, Silverchair.

I agree with you about Silverchair sounding a lot like those other bands.
However, remember they are just kids who of course are going to be
influenced by other bands, more so than older people. (btw, do you know
they didn't ever really even LIKE Nirvana?). I reckon they just started out
with jamming together, never really thinking their music would ever even go
on sale, let alone become known world-wide.

There's only so many musical variations possible. So of course some bands
are going to be "rehashing" styles of music from the past in some way, even
if only subconsciously. There's a lot of punk bands out there that sound
like The Clash, for example. Like Bad Religion, RKL, even Green Day
sometimes. Does it really matter? I like them all, and I reckon there's
room in this world for them all.

Yes, room even for Silverchair!

Just remember to play it loud ~

Silverchair i'm not so sure about, but You am I are pretty cool. Their
earliest stuff is better than the stuff they recently released though. I
think in the clip to "My Wave" Matt is wearing their tour t-shirt.
Silverchair got their name by combining the title of a You Am I song
(Berlin Chair), with a Nirvana song that must have Silver in it somewhere

I agree they are really going down hill. They seem to be more interested
in being musical politicians than writing good music anymore.
