i am new to this list, but from what i have read in the first couple of days,
i think it is pretty cool. The only lame part to it is all of the complaints
about how the list sucks(obviously these people dont like soundgarden).
Anyway i just want to say that i have liked soundgarden for about foursyears,
but i have recently really got into them. I have superunknown and
badmotorfinger, and i am definitely going to buy the others.
Just an idea, maybe for the list people could say their favorite song and
then try to explain what it is about. Maybe it will start a little
intellectual conversation.
I ll start this off. What is superunknown about? Drugs? someone give
input......or not.

Subject: Mailing lists

I think some people are getting the wrong idea about what a mailing list is
all about (IMHO). All people on this mailing list have one common thread -
we love Soundgarden! But the purpose of mailing lists are not strictly to
talk intellectually or solely about Soundgarden. Straying off the
Soundgarden theme at times is good - it keeps the list from drying up, 'cos
there are only so many "which do you think is the best ...." threads that
can run!

So please remember that when you're mailing, and for heaven's sake, if you
want to unsubscribe send to:

saperl@mit.edu

It doesn't demoralise me, it just makes me wonder about why you joined in
the first place if you weren't prepared to read at least the mail that was
first generated by the server regarding unsubsribing! That said, it makes me
think you're a lazy {******* INSERT APPROPRIATE WORD *******).

Meanwhile - my favourite B side? Would people kill me if I said Side B of
Superunknown? - just kidding, but I don't have any B sides!

'nuff said!

Okay, not entirely sure about the term b-side, but I suppose it just means
the other songs included on singles...
( Don't flame me in I'm wrong!)

I would have to say my favourite is on the Black Hole Sun single, it has
a live version of Jesus Christ Pose and Beyond the Wheel. Both of them
sound excellent, with plenty of bass.

I've been receiving several copies of some messages, anyone else having
similar problems?

Anyone know if Soundgarden will be touring Australia anytime in the near
future? I would really love to know, so I can get tickets before they're

To make matters worse....I have read that they are rumored for a tour to Aus
early next year..maybe the BDO concerts again. Sounds like the new album is
coming along nice, and they might be here to promote it like Superunknown again.

I asume you mean the song superunknown and not the whole album :) For what I
heard in an interview Chris saw a show on TV that said Superclown (i think)
and he read it as something else (can't remember what now, might even have
been superunknown) anyway, he thought about how you interperate things
differently if you don't understand them etc and about ppl with dsylexia
(like me who can't spell) and wrote the song about that. Alone in the
superunknown.
anyone else heard different??

Dear all,
Soundgardens new album is being produced by themselves as
oppose to Michael Beinhorn who produced the last one. According to
Chris Cornell " I think the this record, done this way, (e.g. beinhornless)
is gonna cost significantly lessthan the last record so we can afford to
take the chance of it being complete shit! If we end up a month from
now being finished with it and half of it's shit we can go 'well, alright, I
guess we can try it the other way again".

Hope this relieves some of the tension

Hi Carolyn.

Have I heard of the Hoodoo Gurus?? ......I've been listening to them
since 1986, and have seen them live as many times as I could.
I like the records, but attending one of their live shows is so
incredible. Unfortunately they don't play here very often, and its
extremely difficult to get any info on new releases and tour plans.
Oh well, there's not much that can be done about that. I have to
take what I can get with them.

Julia

Hello fellow soundgarden lovers ~

Lots of you have replied to me about Silverchair (BIG over there, huh?), and
even one about Midnight Oil, and now Julia writes about Hoodoo Gurus. NOW I
just have to get you all into Tumbleweed and Exploding White Mice - these
bands are more like Soundgarden (EWM are I think an Adelaide band and have
been around for a while; they did a tour here with the Cramps a few years ago).

Cheers from DownUnder

Carolyn.

PS: Are the Cramps very big in the US? 'Big' on the alternative scene, I
mean..................I used to love them a few years ago - good
garage/druggy style music!!

everybody's sources suck (they could be cool for all i know but they suck
right now)
my sources are the fanclub and they suck because they said the album's coming
out next summer. and everybody else is hearing different things. so i guess
we'll have to wait until the album comes out or someon from soundgarden says
something.

Classic AUSTRALIAN bands, you must have good taste in music,
although I would drop Midnight Oil if I were you.. :)

People obviously don't read their mail nor do a lot of them have basic
common sense - it should be obvious that if you subscribe to one address
you're probably going to have to unsubscribe to the same!

Doesn't matter - I'm interested in what Soundgarden plays at the gigs,
especially recent ones. Some bands delve back to their past albums and play
little new stuff where as its vica versa for others! What do Soundgarden
play - would people please post up Set lists (doesn't have to be the whole
show or in any order!) from whatever Soundgarden shows they remember?

Also, when Soundgarden play Spoonman live (I assume they do this
frequently), what do they do for the "spoon solo" - is there an actual
spoons player that they have along or does Chris Cornell do something
whacko? I'd just be interested!

Thanks in advance for replies.

Jackhammer.

in the outro which I think covers the scenario we're facing:

If I speak at one constant volume, at one constant pitch, at one constant
