Effective Motivation

Abstract One of the most difficult tasks as a manager is the motivation of others. This module provides a summary of the thinking of recognized experts on the topic of motivation. You can use these summaries as a stepping stone to actually applying these concepts to job situations. The work of Gellerman, Argyris, McClelland, Likert, Maslow, McGregor and Herzberg are summarized. An inventory for organizational motivation needs is also presented. Techniques for motivation are then discussed. Finally, the Organizational Motivation Needs Inventory (OMNI) is presented.
